The survey, conducted Friday and Saturday, finds Donald Trump holding his lead with 23 percent support among Republican primary voters. This is consistent with a Gravis Marketing poll taken after the debate, where 19 percent of Republicans said Trump won the debate.
The Gravis poll found that more Republicans, 22 percent, felt Ben Carson, retired neurosurgeon and political rookie, won the debate. In the NBC poll, Carson surged into third place in the nomination contest, earning 11 percent support.
Texas Senator Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) was the second choice in the NBC Poll, receiving support from 13 percent of Republican voters. Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina was fourth, with 11 percent, following her widely recognized domination of the undercard debate earlier Thursday evening.
The exact breakdown and percentage of the first seven spots in the NBC poll are: Trump (23), Cruz (13), Carson (11), Fiorina (8), Rubio (8), Bush (7) and Walker (7).
In other words, the highest poll ranking of a candidate acceptable to the Republicans in D.C. is Florida Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), in fifth place with just 8 percent. This is stunning considering the obvious attacks on Trump by Fox moderators, ...
In the post-debate analysis, Fox News roundly criticized Trump and heaped praise on Rubio and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a former Fox News anchor.
Obviously the NBC News poll is the first of many post-debate polls and the nomination contest is still in its very early days. Trump created a silly controversy for himself with an attack on Fox News moderator Megyn Kelly over the weekend, which isnt factored into this polls results.

On Saturday, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who is inexplicably also running for President, said Donald Trump was inflicting permanent damage on the GOP. He wants him booted

Trump’s leaving his wealthy activities to do this because he cares about America.
Kelly comes across to me like she cares about Kelly. She seems to think her calling is to play devil’s advocate regardless of truth and value. I deleted her show from my DVR because her self-promotion that night was too much for me. Trump self promotes, but there’s reason behind it - America’s betterment. To me, Kelly self-promotes for Kelly’s sake.
Where’s that picture of a Mexifornia driver’s license with the picture of the bandito from Treasure of Sierra Madre?
To those who believe the Fox News team didn't have an agenda, isn't it odd that All the post debate analysis was similar?
Cruz is not eligible. He is NOT a natural born Citizen.
I see.. BUT Obama is eligible?....
I know you have a point.. spit it out..
DUH!.. When your country STOPS working ... CALL A MECHANIC...
Trump couldn’t fix a Go-Cart.. And Hellary can’t drive..
So what if the first three questions at Trump were personal? A prepared Donald Trump could have easily cleared the fence on all those questions and used them to illustrate a larger policy issue.
For example on bankruptcy and the laid off workers, that was Trumps chance to say “Thanks for asking this Chris! In business, stuff happens. I never once went into a project planning for it to fall apart, but nobody ever knows for sure what might go wrong. Everybody including the lenders and my employees knew the risks going in, and where I could, I gave those employees a look as we launched subsequent projects. None of those lenders went bankrupt, because they diversified knowing that not every loan pans out. Bankruptcy laws exist for lenders and employees to know exactly what can and can’t be done if a business venture fails, which seems to escape most journalists understanding.”
“The big problem is when failed leaders like Barack Obama turn those laws on their heads, in the case of GM giving ownership stakes to the unions that were the primary cause of the failure while screwing preferred shareholders, in many cases retirees and the disabled. That creates CHAOS and is one of many ways that Barack Obama and his Legion of Gloom economic team have CRIPPLED this economy. SHAME on you and your so-called ‘journalist’ colleagues for not asking a single question about this during his reelection SCAM-paign!”
“My economic plan will bring Crony Capitalism to an END! Every regulation and every tax will be reviewed through a prism of ‘How will this help make America Great Again,’ and scaled back or repealed as needed to get us there!”
But no one was brave enough to debate prep the Donald on these types of questions, and he blew his chance to completely take charge. He was too arrogant and unprepared, and needs to learn how to take any negative question, respond directly, calmly and compassionately, use that same issue to paint the Democratic enemies of America as far worse, then close with a positive, passionate policy statement.
Fergetit! You can have her!
I want to be your friend. I really do. But you're making it hard, because you insult me with the words above. You may as well be praising someone who just slapped my mother to the ground.
Hey...I’m feeling the wrath here, but I’m sorry... you are all wrong...I’m right, and in time you will see I am right...:-)
Notice that the Dems don't have this sort of ideological split within their party. The reps, the leadership, and the base, are all in (more or less) perfect accord with each other. There is very little if any internal squabbling amongst them.
From my recollection, when the Democrat base began pulling hard left, the reps and the leadership began to slowly drift in that direction without putting up too much of a fight. Perhaps it was because so many of the old line bulls were nearing retirement age, just as the new leftward push was beginning.
On the other hand, look at what's occurred on the right. The base has more or less always been conservative. Perhaps not actually 'hard right', but most certainly 'well right'. In all that time, there's been a tension between the base and their reps and leadership, who for the longest, were center-right, or even moderate-middle.
As time has gone by, the ideological tension between the base and the party has only grown, as the party drifted from moderate-middle, to center-left.
Now look at where we are. There's a full blown war going on between the party and its base. They're now forced to execute all manner of trickery and deceit in order to manipulate the outcomes of important elections. Quite honestly, they've stolen free elections and representative government from the very people they claim to represent.
If they steal this last chance for us to save our republic, there's gonna be more than a revolt at the polls.
Oh no, you di'int!
The e in GOPe is supposed to stand for elite.
I say it stands for excrement.
;-)
I've seen people drink and post, but this is one of the rare times I've witnessed someone posting under the influence of hallucinogens.
It's gonna suck to be you when you come down off your high and read what you've written.
There’s that 47 percent again, but now going the opposite way. So...
47% of the GOP base wants what the GOPe does not.
Could the party be even MORE divided, and does anyone think that maybe, just maybe, there are some RINOs out there who want to get on the good side of their base and compromise, or will they just double-down on what they’re doing?
Namely, promote Fiorina, JED, Linda Grahamnesty and Crisp Crispy, Putz-taki and Kase-itch while attacking Trump, Cruz and Dr. Carson?
They’ve split the party. It’s over.
God, is there anyone out there that believes as I do? Am I all alone here tonight?
I was as mad as hell about this, but I’ve done a 180...I think that in time this will all even out, and it will propel us to victory.
This is a low point no doubt, but not get our underwear in a knot here.
BOTTOM LINE, I DON’T THINK THE FOX TRIO HAD IT IN FOR TRUMP OR ANY OF THE CANDIDATES... THIS IS THE BIG LEAGUES AND THEY ASKED BIG LEAGUE QUESTIONS, UNLIKE THE SOFT SHYTE THAT IS THROWN UP TO OBAMA AND NU0MB NUTS PRESS SECRETARY EVERY DAY....OK? REST MY CASE...:-)
Ok... Wednesday.. let’s regroup and see where we’re at.
I predict, Trump will be over 30%...and there will be this feud with FOX...
ok...? Kelly will remain a classy lady... and invite Trump on her show. He will say on one condition. You read my book, and you ask me smart questions, not stupid shyte.
YOu have a great sense of humor...Let’s see what you believe in the next week or too. I won’t hold you to an apology for your disparaging remarks... but just the same I’m sure you’ll be wanting to apologize to me...
You’re probably alone in your views. And I personally don’t share them, while acknowledging that it’s possible.
But don’t let it bother you. I’ve spent most of my time at FR as a minority voice. Often as a minority of one or two. Like back in the 2006 time frame when I started noting the similarities between the gop and rats.
I’ll let you in on a little secret: today’s heresy is tomorrow’s orthodoxy. Thoreau also had some good thoughts on being a majority of one.
Well yeah he is F in Civics for you.
