Donald Trumps first presidential debate was a disaster. Thats the assessment of Republican insiders in this weeks POLITICO Caucus, our weekly bipartisan survey of the top strategists, activists and operatives in Iowa and New Hampshire. They offered their reactions immediately after watching Thursdays 9 p.m. prime-time debate in Cleveland. Story Continued Below Forty-four percent called the controversial real estate mogul the biggest loser of the evening, critiquing everything from his refusal to rule out a third party run, to perceived misogynistic comments to his acceptance of single-payer health care in other countries. ---- While Rubio and Bush were both perceived as winners, there was a big gap in perceptions about their respective performances. Those who characterized Rubio as the winner tended to offer glowing assessments; those who picked Bush thought he won simply by not losing.
Americans were the biggest losers last night, folks.
This was a once-in-a-decade chance to take apart the last seven years of Obama/Clinton with unfiltered trth, in front of the biggest debate audience, EVER.
Instead, today’s stories are all about Megyn Kelly, and Trump, while the left is laughing their asses off at us.
Like cooperating in Benghazi terrorist arming or IRS persecution of conservatives, the Uniparty is evil enough to murder Trump for blowing up their rigged game.
They better get behind their probable nominee or all of us will be the biggest losers.
Who out of the group of GOP has been to a Bilderberg meeting? I’m not sure. If anyone has answer I’d appreciate the info. Hands are totally useless today and it’s very painful to type.
What led to the Bolshevik success was Russia’s entering a World War in 1914, for which she was hopelessly unprepared. Whipped by Germany, in financial ruin, the hate driven Bolsheviks seized the opportunity to pick up the pieces.
Yes. That was what I posted. Agree.
Tells us all we need to know. GOP insiders are simply moderate to liberal Democrats.
Moderate? You were feeling kind today since it is Friday :)
In attendance were Wesley Mouch, Orren Boyle, and Mr. Thompson, aka Reince Priebus.
For those who’ve convinced themselves that Trump won the debate, the Frank Luntz focus group might be a good way to regain perspective.
Not hardly. Even the democrats here in the recently blued neighborhood like his tone and answers.
Both parties are completely out of touch with the rest of the country. They are so busy plying their bases with nice little sops they have missed the massive build up of animosity toward the ruling class.
Nice post for sure!
Let there be no doubt about it; the GOP insiders KNOW what the base wants and they openly ignore it and tell the base to piss off. To them the base is a bunch of ignorant rabble, beneath consideration by them. For the GOP insiders, the base needs to shut up, get in line, and drone on with the GOP insiders plan because the GOP insiders, like the democrat party are SOOOO much smarter than any of the base.
The Bushes (maybe not Dauphin) have been to both BB and Bohemian Grove.
I didn’t watch the debate but I didn’t have to. Did anyone expect anything different from the GOP-E who clearly tried to do everything they could with their FOX News collaborators who are almost as annoyingly snarky as MSNBC. Trump held his own. They didn’t land a hit on him and he has dominated the post debate spin as I knew he would because he knows something that the GOP at large still doesn’t get and that is retail marketing. The target customer(voter) is the fed up Washington DC has failed customer and that is a majority of us citizens. Trump has really just started to tap that vein of discontent and he can drill that vein all the way to the White House. Nothing the GOP-E can do will stop Trump because he doesn’t apologize, he doesn’t retreat and he gives back everything he gets and more. This idea that he will be held to this mock standard of being polite and “grown up” while Rome burns is ludicrous but they are trying it. They will fail and though I’m still a mostly Cruz guy I delight in every swing of the Trump wrecking ball. I want the snotty snarky aristocratic internationalist political class to be totally eviscerated for what they have done to this great country and how they’ve ruined our culture. I want them to feel how it means to have no power to have their weenie political correctness thrown back at them like that rotten stinking passive aggressive tripe it is.
They’re not “out of touch” though. They know very well what we the people want. They just don’t want the same.
They love Jeb. No shock there. it’s too predictable they would say he did well no matter what he did.
They dont even try anymore, do they?
Hail Mary pass....Nothing left!
Who wrote their response Tokyo Rove Pelosi or Washerwoman Schultz? This says it all. I’mm so glad I’m not a Republican anymore - live and learn.
If they say he’s a loser, then the absolute reverse must be the case. Watch the polls this week.
[Uniparty is evil enough to murder Trump for blowing up their rigged game.]
As one who is leery of conspiracy theories in general, I find myself in recent times entertaining this notion and others. I hope to be proven wrong. If he mysteriously drops out, I would guess a threat to his family.
Just to keep myself above suspicion, see my tagline...;-)
The Establishment is licking its wounds.
Trump scored points; Cruz was the most searched during the first hour; Carson got a big spike.
Very disturbing, if you’re a RINO.
