BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- A group of residents in northern Idaho lined up outside a U.S. Navy veteran's house on Thursday to protest claims that federal officials are planning on confiscating the man's weapons.
Idaho Republican state Rep. Heather Scott of Blanchard said the Veteran Affairs office has sent a letter to John Arnold of Priest River warning him that he cannot possess or purchase firearms.
The protest -spearheaded by Scott- attracted roughly 100 people. Among them were Bonner County Sheriff Daryl Wheeler, who promised to stand guard against any federal attempts to remove Arnold's guns, and Republican Washington state Rep. Matthew Shea of Spokane Valley, who described the event as a "defiance against tyranny."
"I took an oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution and uphold the laws of Idaho," Wheeler said. "This seemed appropriate to show my support. I was going to make sure Mr. Arnold's rights weren't going to be breached."

Good job everyone. This is what this forum was created for.
The way our once great country is going; you'll be ruled INSANE just for HAVING a gun!
That is why we organize and show up.
Do we have firearms when we show up? Maybe, maybe not. You never can tell.
No more silly than: So if a person cant manage our country's finances they lose their right to represent us!
Nut-job Conspiracy Theory Ping!
To get onto The Nut-job Conspiracy Theory Ping List you must threaten to report me to the Mods if I don't add you to the list...
We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that weve set. Weve got to have a civilian national security force thats just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded. Barack Hussein Obama, 7/2/2008They dont call it a Civil Defense force, that would imply we need (or perhaps that we deserve) defense. The official name is National Civilian Community Corps.
I think of it as the NatCCC, or more simply, as the NatCs...
BEING NEIGHBORLY...
You’re doing it right!
Unless I am mistaken, it was in magnitude but not in principle. Koresh was a Christian leader of a community including women and children who were ordered to die by people at the highest level of the Federal government.
To my knowledge, "the Feds;" i.e., with tanks and full military, were not there. No women and children were targeted. And no, although state police now use equipment such as MRAPS, it is not the same. Whether the Feds were there or not, this was clearly a situation in which the State had at least the appearance of being the lead agency, not the BATFE.
Both Waco and Ruby Ridge were PR disasters because innocents were slaughtered by Federal agencies. Nobody is thinking that bikers qualify for that status. Hence, the two are substantively different.
Which is why that determination should be automatically be subject to a second opinion by a mental health professional attached in no way to a disgrace of an agency like the VA. The guns are only the tip of the iceberg because a person loses a number of important rights and freedoms when they are ruled incompetent.
“Bullying” is the cry of the Left, but when it comes to bullying nobody does it more, or better than the Left, and like all bullies all one has to do is retaliate, and watch the cowards run.
Stand up to them Mr. Arnold, Sheriff Wheeler, and all Idahoans, and America.
No one should have to obtain a license or permit to avail them self of any provision enshrined in the Bill Of Rights.
“No women and children were targeted” Pure misdirection. Reno cared not a whit that there were children int hat compound when she sent the stormtroopers in to terminate the residency. Ask yourself, at Waco was Ron the Gun prosecuted for murdering a mother holding her child, with his ‘marksmanship head shot’? The vil relies on people making excuses for them because the people are unable to believe the regime is really this evil.
I’m selling my tools this weekend at a gun show. THE REGIME WILL TAKE CARE OF MY SAFETY. /SARCASM, a little anyway, since there really is a gun show and I really am selling a bunch of ‘tools’.
Wonder where the local militia are?
Eternal vigilance. .
Wow! Not surprised the residents of Idaho are making a stand against government tyranny.
The issue of women and children means nothing to fedzilla goons, as Ruby Ridge and Waco proved. The bullets fired from agents fifty or sixty yards away were indiscriminate when they missed targets, so the fact that no women or children were hit is pure accidental good luck.
Then why are we being RULED by an Indonesian?
Lon Horiuchi, have gun will travel. Taxpayer funded federal assassin.
Murdered a defenseless woman holding her infant. Current status, still employed.
