What does one do when courts render decisions so blatantly illogical and distorted? Are government entities obligated to comply with utter nonesense?

Fantastic point. The question I have is whether any of these solicitor generals ( or whatever ) had the sense to argue that to the judges: "Your honor, the state is demanding nothing more than the same security that this very court employs at its front door, and at airports, and at state legislatures".
Furthermore, unlike the enemy who never lets up, our guys when they lose these simple cases always fail to walk out in front of the courthouse to the waiting cameras and make a statement like: "We are extremely disappointed with the double-standard displayed by judge 'so-and-so'. They have displayed wanton hypocrisy in demanding photo ID before you can enter their courtroom but denying it to the taxpaying and voting public. As they are clearly 'discriminating against the poor with this requirement we are asking the state legislature to begin immediate impeachment proceedings".
Of course that would require both a working frontal lobe and a pair of ~ahem~ stones.
