DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- More than 380 people in 26 U.S. states have been diagnosed with a stomach illness tied to Mexican cilantro contaminated by human waste, two federal agencies said Tuesday. It's the fourth consecutive summer in which the intestinal infection cyclosporiasis has been reported in the United States. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and the Food and Drug Administration are investigating the cause of the latest outbreak, which appears to have begun after May 1. The FDA said it suspects the contamination came from "contact with the parasite shed from the intestinal tract of humans" in the growing fields, contaminated water or harvesting, processing and packing activities. It causes diarrhea, nausea and fatigue which can last several weeks to a month or more if untreated.

This is why the corporatists are trying to so hard to remove country of origin food labeling.
Had to be aq good reason mine actually grew this year. Usually can’t get it to grow, or if it does it dries up in a week or two. So just go out on the porch, get what I need, and no need to buy that big bunch that mostly goes to waste.
Liberals would just as soon get the trots than offend anyone.
Tasty Lee...Florida developed and licensed variety grown in SE U.S. Look for it.
Indonesian seafood is bad news
I’m not sure it’s that. I know some. They’re just dirty . A guy I’ve known since high school used to call his kitchen ‘’the toxic waste dump’’. And it was close. It wasn’t better when he got married. The guy made Oscar Madison look like Hazel the maid. Their kids were always sick with some ‘’stomach virus’’.
Some of them really look down their noses at people who live in newer, nicer areas (my SIL from hell). 40, 50 years old is ‘’too new’’. Roaches & rats- or at least, mice, are a requirement. (I’m not kidding.)
Make no mistake about the typical Mexican laborer. They are a sharp people. I have personally witnessed how they can make an engine run with a bit of baling wire and some creative ingenuity.
It is just that many have grown up poor in conditions where there is no running water and no dependable sewage systems. It doesn’t cross their mind when nature calls where they do it.
I have witnessed several instances in public bathrooms in Mexico where the USED “toilet paper” is thrown in a waste can adjacent to the commode. Why? because they were using old newspapers and such that would not flush.
Liberalism is a lifestyle for sure!
Oh yeah. If you can call that ‘’a life’’.
In the not too distant past, numbers of folks in our area became sick from eating at local Mexican restaurants because of fresh ingredients like the onions and probably the cilantro!
There are problems with those items grown in CA as well as they use mostly Mexican or similar help, who use the same "standards that are used in their own countries," i.e. no washing of hands after using toilet (or rather fields, etc.)
Why do you think all restaurants post notices about hand washing in all of their restrooms - IN SPANISH!!!!!
Good questions. Several years ago, I stopped ordering green salads for those very reasons.
I won’t purchase any food items that come from Mexico.

Yep.
Honey, your homemade salsa tastes like s_hit!
...and our own government is rewriting the laws to remove the country of origin from labels for beef, chicken, and prod.
“Toilet Paper Sickens Hundreds”
Must not be the green type.
Not to worry. A law/regulation was passed a few months ago that eliminates the country of origin on the food you buy. Once again, a corrupt Congress/potus/scotus is doing to you what our founding fathers warned against.
Know someone who was in the Korean Conflict and won’t eat rice to this day because he saw folks doing their business in the rice fields.
