Donald Trump: Mexico will pay for wall because I say so ("Let there be a wall, and there was a wall"
CNN ^ | 8/5/2015 | Rebekah Metzler

Donald Trump - who Fox News said literally will be at the center of its GOP primary debate on Thursday - is already feeling the heat from network hosts.

On Tuesday, Fox's Bill O'Reilly grilled the billionaire businessman on his claim that as president he will get Mexico to pay for a wall on the southern U.S. border to help prevent undocumented immigrants from crossing into the United States.

"Bill, they're making a fortune, Mexico is making a fortune off the United States, it's becoming the new China in terms of trade -- they're killing us at the border," Trump said after O'Reilly pressed him twice on the same question.

The third time O'Reilly asked, Trump said, "I'm gonna say, 'Mexico, this is not going to continue, you're going to pay for that wall,' and they will pay for the wall. ..."

Maybe that’s what Trump say when he was in Laredo with all the traffic in and out of there and Mexico.

With Mexico? What’s the downside? Thy won’t ship drugs here anymore? Tariffs on cars? They only move one way now. How about this; reduce the overall weight and length of trucks on the interstate system.

It never seems to amaze me that people who use this logic of “that’s going to start a trade war” can’t see that they are using the same logic that left uses to weaken our military, because every attempt at strengthening the military gets called “warmongering” by the left.

It’s really no different here, just like often the best way to avoid a war is to show your potential enemies how ready you are to fight a war. Sometime the best war to avoid a trade war is to show how ready you are to fight one. If the reaction is always the the weak-kneed “on no, let’s not tick other countries off because god forbid there is a trade war”, then you always get the short end of the stick in any negotiation.

I think that’s the point Trump is making, we’ve been terrible at negotiating a good trade deal because the free trade idealists are as weak-kneed at the thought of a trade war as the disarmament idealists at the idea of war.

You’re the moron who seems to think something is being hidden by Trump not actually having a plan.

He NEVER answers HOW he will do anything!

And that could very well be because you don't tip your hand.

I can tell you as a former business owner at least two ways that Mexico would pay for the wall.

In case you haven't guessed they would be paying INDIRECTLY.. but paying.

You greatly UNDERESTIMATE Trump who well understands "The Art of the Deal" and leveraging a situation.

Trump is a master at tough negotiations....first rule of doing the deal...never play your true hand at the outset of talks & negotiations!!! LMAO.......as to how many folks out there, know little or nothing about winning a negotation effectively. I leave a simple message for you folks who have never negotiated anything........Trump knows exactly what he is doing....he’s been doing these gigs for many...and he is darn good at doing it!!!

He opened his campaign with what we call an attention getter. McCain, Graham, Perry, etc. took the bait as the fools, weaklings and idiots they are, the Obamabot moron media followed suit, sensing Trump blood in the water, Trump got all the attention, and, the rest is history..........Trump bolted to the top, non stop!!! Luv it!!! I can assure you good folks, Perry & Graham are going nowhere!!! they shot themselves in the foot before the light even wnet green!!! Dummies!!!

Exactly. Most people haven’t taken marketing classes to understand this. I have, and sounds like you are well informed as well. Trump will tap, but, never totally reveal his plan, and ignorant people shouldn’t be trying to force him to show his hand. He doesn’t need to give the media more talking points and the opportunity to bring in all their experts to dissect his plan, and tell everyone how it won’t work. i wish people would read his book, “
Art of The Deal.” A shrewd business person doesn’t lay all his cards out on the table in front of the opponent.

It is important to remember that in some ways other countries have already declared a trade war, whenever they dump some product on US markets at ridiculously low prices because of cheap labor and lack of environmental laws and other regulations that drive up the cost of making it here. Of course, we would be correct to fault those who have put such conditions in place for domestic producers (labor unions for the cost of labor, politics for things like regulations and rules for labor costs). So in a lot of ways its a two-fer when it comes to US producers trying to be competitive.

Well right now Trump is 'negotiating' with the primary voters....and he'd better come up with a more specific plan than 'something terrific'.

Why because he didn’t tell you. No need to tip the enemy off. I know two off the top of my head how Mexico will pay for the Wall. Trump negotiatin deals with Mexico, and use the money from it to make them pay for it. And that isn’t one of the two that I said off the top of my head. There are a myriad of ways for Trump to get the money out of Mexico.

Why would I be kidding? You aren’t one of those who thinks Trump is the new Churchill/Reagan/William Wallace/Merlin the magician, are you?

People who know Trump and have dealt with him say that. A former deputy mayor of NYC said that he wouldn’t believe anything Trump said if his tongue was notarized.

A couple of examples include a huge statue of Columbus-—bigger than the Statue of Liberty-—Trump said he and some Russian artist were going to erect on the Hudson River. According to him, the statue was all ready to go and had been delivered. Never happened.

And then, of course, there were those bombshell results about Obama’s birth certificate. Remember, Trump kept blathering about the fantastic stuff his investigators were finding and would soon release. That was just a few years ago, when FR recognized Trump as a shyster and a joke.

The man has a history of saying anything to make himself look good. He once said it’s good to do things nice and complicated so no one can figure out what you’re up to.

ut can’t he just say “Let there be a wall, and there was a wall,” similar to Genesis 1:3?

Just hire the border jumpers at the border solves two problems at once. We could of course shut down the money transfers that take place every pay day. We could just deduct it from the foreign aid that we normally bribe Mexico's politicians with. Instead of a wall build hundreds of prisons joined by exercise yards, if the illegals refuse to fill them up then send our home grown thugs to the border prisons.
