The city will kick in half a million dollars to open and expand job centers for day laborers, City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito said Monday.
The centers serve as hiring halls for mostly immigrant laborers who have traditionally gathered on street corners waiting for work, instead providing a safe spot where contractors can show up to hire people for construction, roofing, and other jobs.
The $500,000 grant will go towards expanding an existing center in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, and opening new ones in Queens and Staten Island.

Welcome to America in the 2015s. Turning ourselves into a TURD world country. Ann Coulter is great on this subject - America is gone.

Wasting $500K we could desperately use to fix the potholed and otherwise destroyed streets, buy textbooks for classrooms, renovate libraries-—instead, they will waste it on illegals who have no business being here anyway. Ditto their providing said illiterate resource-sucking illegals with free food, housing, medical care and education. Viverito herself is probably an illegal. I always question her loyalty to the U.S., as she seems to use her head of the City council position as a lobbyist for Hispanic causes.

How much money goes towards finding jobs for AMERICAN workers? Crickets.. This is for "immigrant laborers", or illegal alien workers?
I bet they don't bother to screen out the rapists and murderers.

Serious question. Can the city be sued in a class action lawsuit? The citizens of NYC don’t deserve to have their tax dollars supporting illegal activities.

Before running for City Council, Mark-Viverito served as a member of Community Board 11, coordinator of the movement Todo Nueva York con Vieques, president of Mujeres del Barrio,[4] and Strategic Organizer for Local 1199 of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), an influential health care workers union.

Regarding Todo Nueva York con Vieques and Mujeres del Barrio, I can find nothing about either organization.

>> These people are insane. <<
They are just corrupt. These projects are a great way to launder money back to yourself. Cronies get the work and pass it back in the form of campaign donations after everyone gets their cut. After construction they keep the gravy train rolling by staffing the projects with friends and relatives.

All vetted and with criminal background checks I’m sure. I always tell people to think long and hard about letting these people into your house to do work.

She is Puerto Rican. She is a big lefty with a face that could stop a clock. She supports the FALN terrorists and debt relief for Puerto Rico.
How ironic is it that the FALN murdered people to get independence for Puerto Rico but now want the US to bail them out?

Why don’t they put one of these into, say, Chappaqua, NY in Hillary’s neighborhood?
