CLEVELAND With just hours to go before the first presidential debate of the 2016 cycle a spate of new polls have shown up just ahead of the deadline.
Invitations to the Fox News/Facebook/Ohio Republican Party debate will be based on the most recent, methodologically sound polling of national Republican primary voters. In addition to a fresh poll from Fox News, pollsters for CBS News, and Bloomberg have dropped surveys ahead of the final tabulations.
The polls all agree that Donald Trump is a center-stage participant in the 9 p.m. ET debate for the top ten. And for perennial top-flight candidates like Jeb Bush, Scott Walker, Mike Huckabee, Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, and Rand Paul, knocking them off that stage would take a statistical cataclysm.
But for three candidates Chris Christie, John Kasich, and Rick Perry they cant yet be sure whether they will be on at 9 p.m. or with the rest of the herd at a 5 p.m.
Will there be more data today? The clock is ticking.

I’m not so sure they want Perry as much as they want Kasich. After all, he used to have a program on Fox. We shall see what happens.
Surely ‘Linda’ Graham will be on stage to add some ‘eye candy’, ;-)
Watching Fox. Don’t think anything is announced yet. Still waiting
Im not so sure they want Perry as much as they want Kasich.

Kasich has Perry beat by .8% in the last five polls shown on Real Clear Politics.
Four of them have an 8/2 end date with one at 7/30. We should know something soon.
Thanks BigEdLB,
I think they are unwrapping the “qualifiers” tomorrow (Wednesday). I’m find it interesting that they didn’t reveal the polls they are using, and how they might be weighted. What input does Facebook ( the co-sponsor) have in the process?
Lots of questions. I’ll wait for the sound bites since each candidate will get 9-19 minutes spread over two hours.

I wonder if there will be demonstrations? Think I’ll skip downtown that day!
My understanding is that they would announce ‘shortly after’ 5PM Eastern... Don’t think the evening folks would go along with not releasing the list. The top eight are obvious no matter how you weight it. Just Kasich, Christie, and Parry fight for the bottom two slots.
Thank you.
