NEW YORK (AP) A tourist from Texas was arrested over the weekend on charges she was packing two loaded handguns at the Sept. 11 memorial in New York City, authorities said Monday.
According to a criminal complaint, Elizabeth Enderli was visiting the site Saturday when she informed a police officer she had the weapons in her backpack. She was charged with criminal possession of a weapon before being released Sunday.

Did the police officer have a loaded gun at the Memorial?
Christie: I’ll pardon legal gun owners arrested in N.J.

In a defense situation, a backpack isn’t the most helpful place to have your gun.
Please REAL America.....don’t carry your handguns into NY. You may drive through with your handguns locked up but don’t stop for the night and you will be screwed if you are caught carrying. You can stop and go to a match, and stay the night as long as you print out an NRA sanctioned match flyer for a match you can prove you are actually going to. You may bring your rifles if locked up you may hunt here if you have an out of state NY hunting license but NOT with a handgun.
I pass this along to you not because I agree with the draconian policy of this matxist state...but because I don’t want to see good Americans have to deal with the consequences of this rogue state who doesn’t follow the constitution
The 9/11 Memorial is quite wonderful to visit. Stirs up a lot of emotions of that fateful day.
I’m a Texas CHL holder and I’m having difficulty working up much sympathy for these two women. To check for reprocity before packing across state lines is taught in CHL class, and, all one has to do is go to the Texas DPS homepage and there’s a CHL link that has the law, pertinent info including a reprocity list by state. So, till there’s a national reprocity law, got to do your homework.
Plus, the exact same thing happened several years ago and it was reported in the national news. Surely, it would also have been publicized in gun magazines and on the NRA website. You can’t live in a bubble.
I am currently a life member of the NYSRPA and I follow the news daily from their newsletters they send me. They are NRA in NY. They are spending a fortune trying to remove SAFE and there is a sizable minority of us NYers who want it removed. But NY/Albany and the liberal cities and burbs make the rules and have the political edge. Either the western counties secede from NY or we have to get out of this state. I am prone to think leaving the NE is the only way out.
Yup, hard to feel sorry for her. My CHL class spent quite a bit of time going over the licensee's responsibility when traveling out of state with your weapon. They make the info easy to find and very clear as to which states recognize TXs CHLs.
Better solution: Don’t go to NY.
MISTAKE #1.
I have no desire to go to NY, or any state north of Virginia on the east coast, except maybe Maine.
Well, the NERVE of them!!!! Thinking New York is part of the US and the Constitution applies there!!
“Better solution: Dont go to NY.”.........
Beat me to it. Avoid NY especially if you are carrying a gun.
Speaking of carrying guns, why did this stupid women,
A: Carry not one but two handguns in her backpack?
B: Notify a cop she had the guns?
C: And like the thread asks, go to NY at all WITH the guns in her possession?
She needs to take a CHL refresher course.
To enter the 9/11 Memorial, you have to go through a magnetometer. The firearms would have been found. She did the right thing telling the police.
Second, I would fight this in court. If a marriage license for homosexuals in one state is valid in the other 49, so is a permit to carry concealed.
Well, if Texas is required to recognize NY permits/license for whatever then NY should have to recognize Texas gun permits.
Why is that? Because they failed to submit to Tyranny? Because they were ignorant of Tyrannical Law?
Homework, schmomework. You shouldn't have to do much homework in a country that's really Free.
What these women did shouldn't be illegal anywhere in the USA. The fact that it is illegal in New York City certainly shouldn't prevent you from having sympathy for them.
I have sympathy for all victims of Tyrannical Law, whether they're intelligent or not, knowledgeable or not, savvy or not.
If enough American citizens defied such Tyrannical laws, maybe more of them would get repealed...
