I don’t know for sure, but sometimes if a cloture vote is not going to pass, the Speaker votes ‘no’ which allows him to bring it around again.

I think that’s what happened.

That is true and I thought about that after I posted.

Good point. Harry Reid did that constantly. Unfortunately, I don’t think McConnell is that principled.

That’s probably the reason.

Correct--a standard tactic in the Senate.

Yes, that’s right, I remember Reid doing that a few times. I don’t understand the logic of it, but you are likely correct.

That’s correct. It was because of another one of those arcane Senate rules, which allows the Majority leader to bring the bill back up again at any time. Reid use to do this all the time.

Exactly. If he voted yes and it failed, he could not bring it up again. After each of the remaining videos to be released, he will bring it up again and again for a vote.

Right. There weren’t enough votes to override Obama’s veto. So....
Sometimes I think these votes are to set up the Republicans to tick off the voters. People forget this is a process.
It all started with the 2006 election. We were primed to vote in Nancy and Harry because the Republicans weren’t being fiscally responsible. No one pointed out the deficit was $171B. The lowest since 2000. Of course, people still believe that we had surpluses then even though we had a Federal deficit of $77B. Low but NO surplus.

That’s true....It one of the stupid rules they have .....I hate to admit it but mconnel may have been doing some vote jiggering that allows him to bring it up again.

Exactly what happened. Bunch of FReepers got their panties in a wad 'cause they don't understand the parliamentary rules.
