The full WSJ/NBC poll won't be released until today. In all the reporting (I've been able to locate), Walker's "My 2nd Choice" numbers are curiously absent.

Donald Trump Surges in New NBC News/WSJ Poll

"...Jeb Bush is the second choice of 16 percent of respondents, with Carson, Trump, and Rubio all winning the second choice spot from 11 percent of voters....."

Donald Trump Leads Republican Presidential Pack, WSJ/NBC Poll Finds

"......The new poll, whose full results will be released Monday, was based on a survey conducted July 26-30, after Mr. Trump made widely publicized controversial statements, such as when he disparaged former GOP presidential nominee John McCain.

The differences among the top-tier candidates are small enough that they are within the poll’s margin of sampling error. Still, the double-digit jump among Republicans picking Mr. Trump as their first choice—up from 1% in the June poll—was significant.

What’s more, Republicans who don’t see Mr. Trump as their first choice seem to be warming to him. The share of GOP voters who pick him as second choice rose to 11% in the new survey from 3% in June...."

Looks like a “just before the debate” poll to attempt to shift the playing field.

Rush is talking now about polling influence and the debates.

Also, sorry about the “screaming” title. I’d didn’t convert it from the source.

Thanks for posting the poll. It’s really quite interesting. Comparing changes from one time to the next, it doesn’t appear that any particular candidate’s supporters are loading the results, with the possible exception of Walker, of course.

Nevertheless, the distribution tends to stay the same. One would think that a candidate or two other than Walker would have latched onto it and got all their supporters over there, so you’d see, for example, Jindal adding votes a lot faster at some point. But the results appear to be pretty steady...so far anyway.

What I find most interesting is how weak Bush is. Less than 1%, only 69 votes with almost 10,000 cast. Also, one wonders where pollsters are getting Trump’s numbers if there’s anything to this one. He’s polling well behind Cruz and Fiorina besides Walker.

Anyone know what the readership of the site posting the poll is like? Just curious.

Incidentally, I tried voting twice, just to see if it was allowed. It’s not.

They said I’d already voted, but to be sure I cast a vote for Gilmore and he stayed at 5 votes.

With this big a field, it becomes a matter of who gets the minor candidates' votes as the minors drop out.

I'd like to see a poll involving just Trump, Bush, Walker and Cruz.

Who do you favor as Republican nominee for President in 2016?

Selection Votes

Jeb Bush 1% 97

Ben Carson 1% 105

Chris Christie 0% 22

Ted Cruz 21% 2,809

Carly Fiorina 16% 2,169

Jim Gilmore 0% 10

Lindsey Graham 0% 9

Mike Huckabee 0% 13

Bobby Jindal 1% 121

John Kasich 1% 183

George Pataki 0% 6

Rand Paul 4% 596

Rick Perry 4% 539

Marco Rubio 4% 490

Rick Santorum 0% 17

Donald Trump 6% 872

Scott Walker 40% 5,404

13,462 total

Many Trump voters in both political parties are government employees and would rather have Hillary in office than have Scott Walker cutting their big spending and regulatory influence.

Real conservatives will refuse to vote for anyone other than Walker in the general election. Scott Walker is the only candidate who has already cut much government spending and proven his intentions. All of the other candidates have shown their intentions to continue big government spending and to further cement socialist influence at all levels of government.

The Trump advocates (government employees) in both political parties are the reason both political parties have gone so far toward socialism and against freedom. Their political influence must be stopped, before our nation collapses under socialism and expanding violations of freedoms.
