The Daily Beast took a predictable swipe at Donald Trump yesterday by generating some “breaking news” which is actually a decades old and long abandoned story from Trump’s high profile divorce from his former wife, Ivana. The “story” in question, which Ivana Trump herself refuted shortly after it initially broke, related to comments she made during their divorce where she said she “felt violated” during a particular sexual encounter.
Business Insider offers a brief history of where this tired old chestnut originated.
When the allegations first surfaced in 1993 Ivana Trump issued a statement clarifying that she didn’t mean the term in a “a literal or criminal sense.”
A spokesperson for Trump, who is currently a frontrunner in many polls of the Republican primary, provided a statement to Business Insider claiming the incident was “old news and it never happened.” They also claimed Trump’s ex-wife, Ivana Trump, made up the “rape” allegation as part of an effort to “exploit” him during their early 90’s divorce proceedings.
“This is an event that has been widely reported on in the past, it is old news and it never happened,” the Trump spokesperson said. “It is a standard lawyer technique, which was used to exploit more money from Mr. Trump especially since he had an ironclad prenuptial agreement.” This story might not have had enough legs to make it to the front page of the weekly coupon clipper if Trump’s attorney hadn’t decided to fire off a particularly ill considered attack on a reporter. Predicted. Geee,,Gloria Allred has been denied her moment in this mess. Oh well, I’m sure the libs/GOPe/MSM/Trump Haters (interesting team there) will keep trying for that big ‘gotchya’......since he’s such a horrible candidate and all. They don’t seem to want to allow the process to play out.
That’s fair. I supported Newt through all of that, mostly because his kids also supported him. They know.

You know, I agree and don’t really care too much for this new ‘uprising’. It’s different somehow. Used to be in the past FReepers could disagree who they would vote for but didn’t need to use insults to get their disapproval across.
There is anti-Trump clique here on FR that basically has told JR he is an idiot, or part of the looney bin, that anyone who supports Trump is dumb, or some other condescending label.
There is a very aggressive, very nasty anti-Trump group at play. I’m not sure why they think that earns some merit or points or votes for the candidate of their choice.
The kids don’t need to stand against their mother. It would be a very BAD idea to even attempt that.
It’s not needed. Ivanna the ex has clarified things, doesn’t appreciate the media manipulation and she’s endorsed Trump for Prez. The kids don’t need to be drawn into it.
She better apologize tonight big time for this old tabloid trash story or she has lost a supporter. And I have a long memory.

Steve Hayes tonight on special report just sunk to a new low trashing Trump over this rape story. I am tempted to say Hayes has no value as a human being, but that would not be accurate because Jesus died for his sins as well.
