I hope Trumps MSNBC interview doesnt surprise too many people: Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump took a softer stance [on] immigration during a television interview Friday, saying he believes in a merit system for undocumented immigrants already living in the U.S.
During Fridays interview, Trump said the U.S. should take a two-step approach to the 11 million undocumented immigrants currently living in the country. Wouldnt it be nice if there really were only 11 million? The actual number is probably at least three times that high and rocketing upward every moment. Meanwhile, we cant find even a loose cannon, ostensibly anti-establishment candidate who wants to enforce immigration law.

I saw that. In my view that is the only correct answer to that question which any candidate has given.
I think he was saying they’d have to do it the same way others do but he wants to expedite the process for all. I wish someone with a real grasp would prep him for the debate though or its going to be brutal.
Reminds me of the Bill Cosby routine, the coin toss with Custer.
Capn Custer call the toss
You call heads. Its tails.
Capn Sittin Bull, what do you want to do?
OK, Capn Custer. Capn Sittin Bull says you and your men wait at the bottom of this hill while him and all the indians in the world ride right down on you.
I kind of see Trump as Custer in this scenario only its the press, all other candidates, Obama and the Democrats, and talking heads swarming down on him.
No, but by breaking the law in the way they have they wouldn’t be eligible to come her legally at all. By exempting them from the effects of that perfectly good law, he would be giving them amnesty for their law breaking. Then on top of that, he’d put them at the front of the line to now come in “legally” ahead of those who weren’t here illegally.
Why you and other Freepers want to pretend he hasn’t said what he has said I can’t understand—except you’re so eager to have a candidate who is good on the issue you want to pretend that Trump is that.
Not a Trump fan at all. That said his stance on immigration this week is not amnesty. Last I heard he wants the “good” illegals to leave and then get in an expedited line. It was his stance last week or the week before, where all illegals who hadn’t broken other law, and who are working and productive would get to stay, which was amnesty.
While I hope his next position on this issue isn’t amnesty, I don’t fault him for this week’s position.
Give it up. Unless you can find me a candidate willing to do more, and without a history to contradict everything says now (like Walker), to stop the two-party Open Borders system, I’m still with Trump.
“Trump WILL deport those here illegally. Then, for those whove been productive, hell create an expedited way/qualifications for them to come back LEGALLY. They ALL get deported, some may qualify to come back LEGALLY.”
Sounds like a plan to me. People don’t understand that not a single house here in Texas has been built without the Illegals doing most of the work. Even Trump’s plan is disruptive and painful to a lot of businesses - but the thought of thinking that today’s video game junkies and liberal arts majors Would lay drain lines during the summer in Texas simply doesn’t compute.
I guess some just ain’t pain’ attention - he never called for amnesty and recently laid it out, yet we have the knee-jerk folks who ignore facts because the voices in their heads are so much more convincing. Reagan did the amnesty thing and then got it shoved up his butt when the Dims broke their promises (pulled an early-time McConnell).
Exactly. He’s just throwing them a little bone to show them that he’s not against legal immigration.
Of course on FNC he says that, but on MSNBC he tells a different story, sounds like Obama’s plan.
Trump :"Well, the first thing we do is take the bad ones of which there are, unfortunately, quite a few, he said. We take the bad ones and get em the hell out. We get em out. We give em back to Mexico or we make sure they stay or where they come from. ........\
.....
Then the other ones and Im a very big believer in merit system, he said. I have to tell you
some of these people have been here, theyve done a good job. You know, in some cases, sadly, theyve been living under the shadows, etc., etc. We have to do something. So whether its merit or whether its whatever, but Im a believer in the merit system. If somebodys been outstanding, we try and work something out."
They all go back....but those who want to, come back legally....
Call it "Trump's version" of amnesty.
Take away the magnets and reform welfare. You’d be surprised what that could do for our labor force.
Here’s what he said last night, and since he started this campaign:
“Trump: You got to build a wall. Its not an easy thing to do. And Ill get it done. And believe me, Ill do it for the right but Im also going to have Mexico pay for it. Mexico is making a fortune off of us. They will pay for it. So, just mark my word. Thats called negotiation. Before I even start a wall wed get rid of the bad ones. We have a lot of really bad apples. We have a lot of bad dudes that are causing tremendous problems I was very proud of bringing up illegal immigration. It was not easy to do. I would get rid of the bad ones, the criminals, we have a lot of people who are here who shouldnt be here. And, I dont want to house them in our jails because its costing a fortune. I want them to go back to the country where they came from. Not only Mexico, plenty of other countries. They are pouring across the border. So thats number one. Then theres number two. Theres some great people. But, you either have laws or you dont have laws. I would get them back to where they are and I would try to work out a process to where they could come in legally. But, they have to come in legally, Sean. Its about laws.”
I don’t see anything about amnesty there. He said work out a process where they could come back in legally. That is not amnesty.
LOL...again, spin. So which is it? The MSNBC interview or the Hannity interview that you believe?
Let me ask...
Trump supporters in his defense ask WHICH Republican has said or believes we can deport ALL illegals here.
To which I ask you, HOW is Trump going to do this?
Like speeding. Ticket what u can everyone else slows down
Ok, but how are you going to prove who is here illegally...
I am of Hispanic decent...will ICE stop me because of my name? I was born here, so I am an American by birth. Again, deportation is good in theory, but HOW are you going to do it?
Please stop. I answered your first question not going to design your program.
You are correct. Some people are determined to be mule headed. Don’t try to confuse them with facts, right? :)
So it took him 72 hours to flip-flop.
The man is positively Romneyesque.
