Donald Trump just showed why his campaign may be doomed
Fiscal Times ^ | 26 Jul 15 | Don Garver

For the past six weeks, an overarching concern for the Republican Party has been the impact that Donald Trump might have on the GOP primary election — particularly the damage he could do on the debate stage by turning an already unmanageable 10-candidate forum into a full-on circus.

On Sunday, though, Trump himself gave one of the clearest examples yet of why his candidacy is doomed to fail, and why, if handled properly, the debate stage could be his Waterloo.

Trump called in to CNN's State of the Union on Sunday morning to speak with host Jake Tapper.

Much of the appearance was, in fact, more of a Trumpian soliloquy, which appears to be his favorite form of expression, than an interview. When Tapper was eventually able to interrupt him and press for some policy specifics, however, the cracks in Trump's façade quickly became evident.

No one is listening to the damned media on anything, and no one should.

I'm beginning to believe this too. Maybe the media kingmaker days have ended...finally.

He’s all over the place. He has no true core values. He’s a perfect example of why so many of us used to say character matters. Apparently, that’s gone. With Trump, you get mish mash, pish posh, claptrap, and gobbledygook, changing and shifting values and positions, while all his fans applaud his candor. He’s a fraud.

I am ready for anyone aiding or advancing open borders

That's not what you really meant to say I'm sure. You forgot the NOT within the sentence between anyone and aiding.

And here I thought the Tapper interview was a GREAT example of why Trump continues to run rings around these guys. He refuses to be pinned down to a "gotcha" question; he continues to restate the major issues in a variety of ways; he cannot be bullied (as Tapper tried to do) into giving an answer that he is not ready to give.

Critics think that's because he doesn't have an answer. I think he probably does, but knows that specifics of policy details a) bore the hell out of people and b) are simply minefields for the rabid press to attack you on.

Course, needless to say he still leads in almost all polls and is second in the IA poll---where they said he was finished a week ago.

Is this the end of Trump number three, four, or five? I’ve lost track.

I think this might be the End of Trump v.79. Has anyone been keeping count?

(Just because "Business Insider" has "business" in its title doesn't mean it's not a moonbat-left website.)

You’re right. We really need another amateur president who wisely won’t tell us more than his bromides and who is smart enough to go off topic when asked to explain is policies.

And just because you see “Business Insider” doesn’t mean they wrote the article. It was Fiscal Times.

Oh yeah and everyone is going to run back to the GOPe candidate. ROFLMAO!

NOT!!!!!!!! I’ll put it to you this way. Trump and Cruz are the only ones getting my vote.

This is just another wet dream form a worthless Establishment loser.

No candidate is going to give policy “specifics” at this point in the game.

Nevertheless, this political hack rat is going to pretend that all the rest of the candidates have given “policy specifics”. LOL!

Oh please give it a break! This is so desperate.... It’s absolutely pathetic.

Cruz is my man and Trump has opened the door good and wide for him to burst through and out of the pack.

He’s going to have to burst quite a bit. The avg of polls has him at 5.7% after Huckabee and Carson.

Robert, you got to read the whole sentence!

Please see my post #13 in this thread. Unless I have misinterpreted the very words uttered by Donald Trump, it seems that the sodomite did indeed trap Trump in a gotcha question. The candidate appears to buy into the long-discredited and totally ridiculous assertion that blacks are "targeted" by police.

How do you square what Trump said about this in relation to the Sandra Bland suicide?

Priceless. From the people who willing put themselves behind moving ropes and think a hardball question is, “What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?”

I hope you are right. I do think he does give a strong Conservative candidate, like Cruz, the opportunity to be the guy who agrees with Trump on illegals, but also is a real Conservative with a track record to prove it and knows what he is talking about on all the issues.

I think Cruz has done a good job of being strong on the issues but staying above personal attacks. He has graciously welcomed every GOP candidate into the race on FB, but has made it clear where he differs with them.

He also is great at answering left wing media gotcha questions and turning them around on them.

The Trump bashers are all making a critical mistake - they are attacking the MESSENGER and ignoring the MESSAGE.

Trump has done many appalling things.

However, if he can destroy the GOPe and break the back of the evil MSM then I applaud him and I will back him.

He isn't perfect but he seems to be the only one going in full attack mode on the elitists of both corrupt parties.

His bringing to the front the issue of Republic destroying illegal 3rd world invasion should be applauded by all.
