Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell started a fast-track process Friday on legislation to strip Planned Parenthood of federal funding in the wake of two controversial videos showing officials discussing delivery of fetal parts.
The Republican leader began "Rule 14," which will let the legislation skip the committee process and be placed on the Senate calendar so it can be brought up for a floor vote.
The move comes after Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) slammed McConnell during a blistering floor speech earlier Friday, suggesting the Kentucky Republican wanted to dodge a vote on defunding Planned Parenthood.
"There are a host of amendments that the American people are focused on, things like defunding Planned Parenthood after the gruesome video, Cruz said. The majority leader doesn't want to vote on that. That's actually something the American people are focused on."

Yep.
Two weeks in and he’s already paying dividends.
Cruz supporters have something to be proud of here too. He’s in the Senate and he did his duty on this.
I’m proud of him too.
McConnell, sir, it’s time to step down. On the way out, take the failed House Speaker with you.
Agreed Cruz was fighting for conservatives while Donald Trump was still criticizing Mitt Romney for being too hard on illegal immigration.
Just wanted to make sure you have seen this.
This is getting to be very interesting and entertaining - between Cruz and Trump starting to spew blatant and uncensored Truth, the Left and those who aid and abet the Left are starting to pack extra panties to take care of emergencies....
Let’s see him fast track the veto override...that’s more important.

It’s times like this I really miss C-Span....
Thank you, Senator Cruz!
This calls for prayer—please, Lord....please give people the strength to de-fund that evil organization.
I’m saying it outright, probably because I didn’t have much sleep last night, but PP is evil.
“Its not planned parenthood and it never has been. Thats just a goofy commie lib name they came up with to make the more gullible among us to like them. When you murder your baby, well, thats not really parenting. A more appropriate name would be The Baby Killing Hoods.”

Exactly right!!!
Turn the light on and the cockroaches really start to scramble....

Thanks, KC- I had read the headline. McConnell is predictable, he usually comes out on top only because the DC monied interests give him virtually unlimited funds.
Here, he threw Paul and conservatives a bone— but, I’m sure you’d agree, it’s not going to appease anyone. Cruz has now thrown all his chips in; he’s committed to attacking McConnell as the symbol of DC corruption— imo.
I thought all spending had to originate in the house. Oh, wait. I forgot, they only follow the rules they like.
I’m glad Cruz stood up to McConnell. I have to believe the traction Trump is getting gave Cruz some strength.
Obviously the democrats will not vote to over ride a veto. However, there is the fact that many big corporations have announced they’ll no longer donate to PP. This might make a few of them move to the middle.
I heard Paul as well on Hannity and thought he sounded... Political... as usual.
Paul is a band wagon jumper onner... he was nowhere to be seen when Cruz fillibustered on the spinate floor last year. He didn’t want to get his hands dirty.
Cruz told Mark Levin last night that Mitch was trying to block stripping PP of its funding. I guess the heat is now on Mitch. Good.
Absolutely. It’s all he does & then he gets to say, I tried.
Didn’t think anyone could be worse than Trent Lott. I was wrong.
Why is McConnell wtting his pants all of a sudden? Pressure from the folks back home?
