While his favorability rating took a hit, a new poll shows that Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trumps comments about Senator Sen. John McCain (R-AZ)s war record are not the silver bullet many in the GOP and media hoped. A YouGov poll taken after Trumps ill-considered remarks show his support among Republican voters has surged by double digits and well-ahead of Scott Walker and Jeb Bush, his two closest competitors.
During the week of July 4-6, Trump was in first place, with 15% choosing the billionaire businessman over the rest of the field. Bush sat at 11%, which tied with Kentucky Senator Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY).
The latest poll was taken between the 18th and 20th. Two of those days occurred after Trumps McCain comments. Regardless, Trump not only held on to first place, he surged to 28% support. Bush came in second with just 14%. Walker came in third with 13%.
Trump is not only in first place, he earns twice the support of second place.
The GOP and the media have done everything in their power to destroy Trump. Hes not only gotten strong, but he is becoming a much better candidate.

Only a snob would underestimate such a man. And now those snobs have cream pie all over their smug faces.

LOL Let the RINOs sweat. I still see The Donald as a flash in the pan, but it’s been a fun flash in the pan. And he’s doing a lot of good.
Which is why people need to continue telling pollsters Trump is there guy. It’s very important that he does well because it proves that the country still values straight talk (no, not the McCain style but the non-PC style)
If Donald Trump is already attracting 28% of the Republican vote, imagine what will happen if the GOP Establishment manages to crush him and win the nomination for their favorite, Jeb Bush, whom barely 10% can support, and then Donald Trump runs as an Independent.
To his 28% support Donald Trump will be able to add the support of his fellow 20 non-Bush Republican candidates who were also steamrolled out of contention by Karl Rove and his fellow GOP-e minions and are angry about it.
That should bring The Donald’s total up to 90% Republican support, and he’ll surely be able to pick up a lot of independent voters in the general election who also are angry at illegal immigrant criminals, post-abortion body-parts selling, and other horrors promoted by our current government which Donald Trump will be certain to bring to attention as the 2016 campaign unfolds.
We seem to be entering the Year of The Donald. Thank you, Karl Rove, Jeb Bush, and the foolish corporate interests who are flooding them with hundreds of millions of dollars to make this possible.
Sorry to say, but nearly all Democrats agree and a large number of Republicans agree as well. There are Trump Democrats out there, just as there were Reagan Democrats back in the day.
President Bush pushed for Minority Home Ownership with the Buyers coming in with No Money Down and I think it cost the Taxpayers $800,000,000,000 Dollars.
This will not harm Trump one bit, count on it.
What about McCain hot dogging, flying under some power lines and cut off power to thousands. Was that the second or third plane he crashed?
And what about all the POW’s who were left behind in Vietnam? McCain’s committee was supposed to get to the bottom of it, not cover it up.
And then there is his disabled wife who he abandoned to hook up with the younger, richer current one whose daddy could buy him a senate seat.
That’s not a hero.
And a lot of Anti-Bush Republicans.
One of those guys.... Either Jebby or Eddie Haskel the weasel Rubio are going to need to drop out of this so they quit splitting the GOPE vote. Otherwise Trump runs away with this thing....
Yes, plus a lot of vets and non-vets remember McCain's behavior on the Senate POW/MIA committee in the early nineties where he did all he could to suppress and discredit any evidence that Americans might still be prisoners in SE Asia.
I've despised the character ever since those hearings.
Yep... the answer is not push back... it is hit them with a straight right followed by the left hook.
Conservatives ARE the base of the party. The establishment GOP is a little slow on the uptake.
“Trump just blamed 2008 financial crisis on Republicans”

Watch this video/audio of Bush speech pushing home loans for unqualified minorities.
Minority with bad credit history, you dont have to have a have a lousy home for first time home buys, low income home buyers can have as nice as home as anyone else.

This Bush speech occurred just several years prior to the epic collapse.
Several have left the democrat party because of O. DT has given them a home
It’s not an online poll, it’s a traditional poll done weekly with 1000 respondents. It will now be biweekly with 2000 respondents. https://today.yougov.com/news/2015/07/24/trumps-support-remains-high-mccain-controversy/
1. pilots tend to be a bit crazy.
2. It was one of the planes he crashed.
3. Why would anyone think there were prisoners still alive in Vietnam after we left? The NVA had no problem illing prisoners, once they were no longer useful bargaining chips the NVA would kill them. It sucks but that’s war.
4.I never said he wasn’t a douchebag. I was pretty clear that he was a hero for doing what he did in Vietnam but after that, I wish he just retired to tell stories at the VFW.
>>>>And a lot of Anti-Bush Republicans<<<<
That would include me. I have always preached the Levin Doctrine here and have been met with supporters and FReepers that wanted my Head.
I have to say, that if the Jebster was the Nominee, I would think about going to the dark side and Voting Third Party.
No matter my Vote, the Jebster wouldn’t have a Snowball’s chance in Hell against Hitlery and I actually think even Sanders would beat him.
I hate Sanders, but Bush is as phony as Obama’s Birth Certificate.
The whole “ownership society” plan was sold to Bush by socialist constituents within the party—the same folks spewing all kinds of socialist rhetoric against conservatives now. Instead of an ownership society, the horde of fraud constituents built useless McMansions for themselves.
Take the easy way by voting for Walker to cut civilian government spending, or take the hard way of default and much larger layoffs for socialists. One way or the other, it’s going to happen soon. Either way, true conservatives will win.
