As far as muzzies go, ULL has a pretty highly regarded petroleum engineering program, and I've met a handful of middle easterners (Saudies and Kuwaitis) over here for their degree. Even allowing for taqiyya, they seemed pretty westernized, and I got the impression that the two who hung out and studied at the coffee house I used to go to regularly were not raised in very devout Islamic households.

Back in my drinking days, one of my drinking pals was an Egyptian, also in the oil industry, working for Schlumberger, who was very westernized. He had been a lieutenant in the Egyptian Army, and had no love for radical islamists.
