While Republican frontrunner Donald Trump gleefully attacks members of the GOP Establishment and media, the GOP Establishment seem to believe its a good idea to run to the mainstream media and attack Republican voters.
First Sen. John McCain (R-AZ)43% ran to the Left-wing New Yorker to attack 15,000 GOP base voters as crazies. Wednesday, the GOP Establishment went even further.
Rick Wilson, a top Establishment Republican message and media strategist ran to Politico to attack Trumps supporters as clowns.
According to the most recent national poll, Trump is garnering support from 25% of the GOP base. Which means that a top Establishment strategist believes it is a smart strategy to smear 25% of the GOPs most loyal voters as clowns:
The circus is almost over.
My advice to Trump fans?
Dont be the last clown out of the tent.
Brilliant.
Keep in mind that this is the same GOP Establishment privately and publicly lecturing Trump about tone.
Let me run this down for you
McCain is calling Republican voters crazies, a top GOP strategist is trashing 25% of the GOP base as clowns, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC)47% is calling Trump a jackass, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)80% is saying Trump has no class, Rick Perry is declaring Trump a circus sideshow but it is Trump being lectured by The Establishment to watch his tone.
Personally, Ill vote for Jeb Bush before I vote for Donald Trump. But that doesnt mean I cant see that the Republican Party is making a gigantic, hypocritical ass of itself. That, however, I can live with.

Not sure how I feel about out right legalization.
Mr. Wilson:
You pretend to be a smart man, but you are not. Those “clowns” as you call them, will not be voting for Jeb Bush or any other GOP-e cardboard cutout you plan on nominating. The “clowns” will stay home by the million, and without them, you are wasting your time and your donor’s money. No GOP-e candidate has any chance of being elected President.
Unless, of course, the whole point of this exercise was never about winning.
.... Trump Voters? .... Heck ..... Nobody’s voted on anything yet.
Yeah, not a good idea.
Agree with him or not, Trump is frankly giving a much needed voice to the things that are really pissing off the American People. I think Trump actually has a good reading on the pulse of everyday American's who are really sick and damn' tired (as I am..) of the Washington Political Ruling Class and their seemingly endless "we know how you should live your life better than you do" supply of regulations designed to govern each and every aspect of our lives.
The problem with the GOP-Elitist snobs is that they can't handle the truth in Trump's message, so they seek to discredit him and attack those who support him. The GOP-E does this at their own peril.
Again, not my candidate of choice (no one is thus far) but attacking his supporters -- who's votes you'll need come the General Election -- is really REALLY dumb.
Stay out the bushes...
I think you are on to something, there. Maybe several hundred “clowns” could show up at McCain’s next event, or his AZ office. The possibilities for clever signs are endless...
Come on "journalists", can't you come up with another term that you won't ENDLESSLY ape?
One ape in the MSM says some term, soon every other ape repeats it.
It's like the "gravitas" trope.
Once one person said it, every other media cretin kept repeating it.
“Hateful and divisive rhetoric”(tm) has been done to death too.
Personally I would vote for my dog Jack before I would vote for Jibbering Jeb.
At least I know Jack is honest enough to be bought, and stay bought with a bone.
That’s the ticket!
Why should Trump tone it down; Obastard didn’t tone it down, he just tightened the screws, or screwing would be a more accurate term.
This just begs for clown suits and a rally!
'Our congressman may be an idiot, but he's our idiot!'
That's what keeps sending the same idiots back.
I will not hold my nose & vote for the “party choice elite” any more.
😀
You are indirectly illustrating a point I’ve been thinking about: In addition to Mr. Trump’s present support in the polls, there are probably an at least equal number of voters like you and me, who I’m quite sure the GOP-e leadership would call clowns, crazies, or hobbits.
With this, not to mention their harm to their base and the country, the GOP-e is blowing the keel right out of their ship, and handing Trump 16” shells at the same time... all the while claiming that Trump is tarnishing the Party!
Now I say this as a (past) Pub voter for almost 40 years: Some think Trump is a Dem operative “sent” to destroy the Republican Party. But, given the Pubs’ recent performance, even if Trump does destroy the Republican Party, might not that be for the best?
“would ALSO call...”
Well Jeb, you’ll be getting one vote so far...
BTTT
Establishment hack.
