Thousands of dangerous federal prison inmates will be released in November as a result of the U.S. Sentencing Commissions decision to lower federal sentencing for all drug trafficking and distribution crimes, two Republican lawmakers warned Tuesday.
According to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, the release will include inmates with violent criminal histories who committed crimes involving assault, firearms, and even murder.

the Sentencing Commission has estimated that 46,376 prisoners are eligible for early release under Amendment 782 with nearly 8,000 offenders eligible for immediate release on November 1, 2015.

I know some here may agree or disagree, but if you are going to put a person in prison just keep them there. They don’t come out better, they come out much worse.
Stop with the soundbites and actually do something. And people wonder why Trump is polling so well.
I would like to see the names and party of these Commission members.
Yes...
I am going to borrow a line form the Bruce Willis movie, “last man Standing”, and i quote Bruce Dern, who played the corrupt sherrif:
“First thing i would do, is get a gun.”
(Yes, the movie is another ‘Yojimbo’ spinoff. I have tried to validate which caliber 1911’s Bruce uses, but whether it be 9mm, .38 Super, or .45acp, he still shoots more than a magazine of any of these would hold, between magazine drops.)
As to the sheriif’s advice, I’ve examined 9mm; I’m been a proponent of .38 Specials with straight soda can wadcutters; i’m now looking into the world of the .380, getting all the YouTube and printable info before i make the commitment.
Cometh the hour; cometh the man.
This is Gov Jerry Brown of California but nationwide.
many innocent people will be robbed or killed as a result.
No, I ain't... but I might not be around for it. If gun confiscation comes, I know I ain't gonna be around for it.
Good times....he can release a few thousand more...what the heck. Malloy will be pleased to know he was *ahead of the curve*. He has to save on expenditures some how.
Anybody who has committed acts of violence should not be enjoying lowered sentences.
Our prisons should be filled with violent offenders, instead of having them be released while non-violent drug felons continue serving draconian mandatory minimum sentences.
Any reduction in sentences for violent people would be the height of foolishness. Similarly, pushing violent offenders out of prison just so drug offenders can be housed is also the height of foolishness.
Violent crime is real crime.
Contraband law is simply Tyrannical Statist bullshit.
Subjecting someone to prison time for possessing the wrong plant, medicine, chemical, or liquid spirits is ludicrous.
