upert Murdoch wants his top executive at Fox News to rein in the network's coverage of Donald Trump's presidential campaign, but the executive has so far refused to comply, according to a report published Wednesday.
Gabe Sherman of New York magazine quoted an anonymous source who said that Murdoch has tried to get Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes to have the conservative news channel "back off the Trump coverage."
The channel has covered Trump more than any other presidential candidate in the 2016 race, according to the report. And Murdoch has not hesitated to voice his dislike of the current GOP frontrunner.
Murdoch took to Twitter over the weekend to criticize the comments Trump has made so far in his campaign.
Murdoch has privately described Trump as a "phony," according to a New York Times report detailing their relationship.
Sherman's insiders reportedly said Ailes told Murdoch he was covering Trump "the way he wanted to."

I guess Fox News wants Jeb Bush to have more coverage???
After all they want to see Bush vs. Clinton in 2016.
Translation = The Establishment is in pure panic mode
When is Rupert Murdoch going to leave the U.S. and take him and his family home to Australia? We were doing just fine without him and we definitely don’t need his 2 cents now.
Like I call it....The Karl Rove Channel.
More coverage on Huckabee or Graham would probably get a lot more viewers I suppose.
Well, Murdoch should be pleased as Fox’s coverage of Trump has been about 80% negative. Much of the negative coverage has backfired, but most Fox hosts have been doing their best.
why , because Trump is killing his boy , Jeb ? LOL
It would be the cure for insomnia.
It is scary how much media is in the hands of so few people.
Yet, they talk about banks, Wallstreet, big oil, big pharma; etc. But not big media.
I like Mordock.
My sentiments exactly. The more I read articles like these concerning the reactions of many in the political and media establishment to Trump and his comments, the more I am reminded of the closed union mentality of these people and that in turn reminds me of a very personal experience many years ago that greatly influenced me becoming a conservative.
Heaven forbid that they would report the news.
I can’t believe this Murdock owns all of the MSM including Fox. How did Fox end up being at least Right leaning with Murdock in charge?
Why can’t someone with some money and his head screwed on straight who loves America and freedom and hates federal tyranny - why can’t someone like that buy up Fox or another major news source?
Even among the non-Trumps, Walker is stronger against Hillary in those ‘swing states’ according to a Quinnipiac Poll. Jeb is down.
Jonah Goldberg came out firing today with a withering anti-Trump column. Rick Perry has gone over the top with his anti-Trump rhetoric. And I’m sure “The Five” and other Fox News shows will join the broadside today.
The Ruling Class/GOPe ain’t taking this Trump thing lying down.
It’s war, ladies and gentlemen. War.
I would not recommend reading the comments at that site, unless you want to see a worldview that is anathema to your own. The “other side of the aisle” gets more “other” every election.
Somebody said to Rupert “Oh crap he might win”
