Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, who met with fellow 2016 GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump Wednesday, said that unlike other Republicans, he’s not going to be bashing Mr. Trump in the wake of the real estate mogul’s comments on Mexico and illegal immigration.
“Donald and I are friends — we’ve gotten together a number of times before he was a candidate for president; we got together and visited today,” Mr. Cruz said Wednesday evening on Fox News’ “The Kelly File.” “You know, I like Donald because he’s brash, he’s bold, and he speaks the truth — he stands up to Washington. It’s what I’ve tried to do in my time in public office.”
“People are fed up with politicians; they’re fed up with what I call the Washington cartel — career politicians, Republicans and Democrats, who get in bed with the lobbyists and special interests, and I, in particular, salute Donald Trump for focusing on the problem of illegal immigration,” Mr. Cruz said.
Mr. Cruz allowed that Mr. Trump “speaks in colorful terms — he doesn’t speak the way you or I speak.”
“But an awful lot of Republican 2016 candidates went out of their way to beat him with a stick,” Mr. Cruz said, saying that he’s not going to join them. “Because I salute him for shining a light on the problem of illegal immigration, on the safety issues, on sanctuary cities.”

One of the reasons I like Cruz. He is one of the very few to actually speak up for Trump.
He’s my first choice. I just hope that my support doesn’t carry with it the kiss of death, which seems to happen too often lately.
He’s confident. I like that.
A lot of GOP contenders went out of their way to beat him with a stick
On orders from The Cheap Labor Express.
They are worried that people might get the idea that we could stop the illegal alien inundation.
Anyone here think the “Donald” and the “Cruz” got an “arrangement” going?
“One of the reasons I like Cruz. He is one of the very few to actually speak up for Trump.”
How do you reconcile Cruz’ voting to give Hussein power to give Iran everything it wanted?
Cruz tells it like it is.
All the other gutless wits running don’t stand for anything.
I don’t see how Donald’s ego would let him be VP.
not one of those ‘stick beaters’ will ever receive my support again
got an arrangement going?

Not sure what you mean by “arrangement” going. But I don’t see either one
being on the ticket with the other in the lesser role, VP.
I don't reconcile it. I've gone from being an enthusiastic Cruz supporter to being a rather mistrustful one.
He can say he was lied to by McConnell, but of all people he ought to know better than to ever trust McConnell.
None of the other candidates impress me besides Cruz and Trump, and Cruz has damaged himself. Walker I'm watching, but I'm also a bit mistrustful of him.
I guess those are the three I'm watching. The other pretenders are absolute "no".
Cruz is a great choice and Donald is getting it right on immigration.
Trump made a lot of these RINOs put their cards on the table.
Voters owe him a debt of gratitude for that.
Cruz on the ticket anywhere would be better than anyone else.
Cruz is Hispanic, Tea Party, a Preachers son and religious himself, a legal scholar and can’t be bought.
I just don’t agree with him on H1b visas. Those good jobs should be for Americans only.
You KNOW, an “Arrangement”...
silently adding ... "and he's fomenting the movement I intend to end up leading come the Autumn of 2016".
Cruz on the ticket anywhere would be better than anyone else.

May be but I personally don’t see Cruz or Trump taking a secondary role to the other.
I could see Cruz taking a Cabinet position but I don’t see Trump doing that.
Just my take......
