The taxpayers of Minnesota could have nearly paid for the Pluto trip themselves for the $500 million they're forced to fork over for "Wilfare".

The taxpayers of Minnesota could have nearly paid for the Pluto trip themselves for the $500 million they're forced to fork over for "Wilfare". But look at what it achieved. Welfare folks got opportunities too. They got high and spaced out. They were able to go on trips they otherwise couldn't pay for. Some of them are exploring heavenly bodies and spreading their tales on twitter. It brings some meaning to otherwise boring meaningless existence. /s

I’m betting the welfare spending of a single large city like LA could probably fund the mission many times over.

And New Horizons had some incredible communications technology on board. I'm looking at
their white paper, and am seeing some possible earthbound applications for some of their approaches.
