WASHINGTON (AP) — The Pentagon's current regulations banning transgender individuals from serving in the military are outdated, Defense Secretary Ash Carter said Monday, ordering a six-month study aimed at formally ending one of the last gender- or sexuality-based barriers to military service.

I apologize to all the FReepers who have counseled folks not to join the military. I have fought with you, and I was wrong. I also have to apologize for decades of refusing to leave the service. I think it’s time to go, and I will no longer tell anyone to consider the military as an option.

My view has been that we must never abandon the military to evil, but I cannot ask anyone to do what I refuse to do myself. I love this country, and I love the service, but I am sickened by what the leadership has done. They are coming for us all, and I pray for God to strengthen and bring peace to those who remain. May God forgive us, and may His judgment come soon!

Now, I just hope that all you dispensationalists are correct! May as well plan to be wrong on that issue, too!
