The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) has unanimously approved a resolution to end the organisation's ban on gay adults working as leaders.
The group's National Executive Board will meet to ratify the resolution on 27 July, the Boy Scouts said in a statement.
It is a major step towards ending a policy that has caused deep rifts in the group, which was set up in 1910.
The BSA voted to end a ban on allowing open gay boys to become scouts in 2013.
Earlier this year, former US defence secretary Robert Gates, who is BSA president, told the group's national meeting that the ban on gay adults needed to end, saying it was no longer sustainable.

Nothing is that valuable. The surrender happened within. I do not see how parents can send their tots out camping with homosexuals while others battle the politics of it. Besides, the Supremes have given the trump card to the homos. BSA is probably afraid of the tax ramifications if they do not cave. Whatever their motive, they won the war. Better option is to invest in that new version. I can’t remember the name right now.

Problem with trail life is admission boards for colleges don’t accept it for admission in the leadership portion so no points at this point.
Parents who subject their boys to the BSOA are exposing them to potential to RAPE....

Not surprised. BSA’s position has been crumbling for some time now, and with the momentum coming from the SCOTUS ruling and some other trends, it was probably inevitable.
The biggest factor of all was probably the deep inroads the gay community have made in the younger generation’s mindset. While I tend to think most of the polls overstate popular support for gay marriage, etc., there is a clear trend along generational lines.
The under-30 crowd, the folks most likely to have kids of scouting age or near scouting age, tend to be very supportive of gay marriage and the concept of gay rights in general. Some polls show the support as high as 2-1 in favor. Again, I think that’s a bit high, but when you consider other polls have indicated a large percentage of those same younger people believe gays make up over 23% of the general population, rather than about 3%, you have an indication of a group whose views have been heavily influenced by media, entertainment, and so on.

My son earned his Eagle in 2010. He is now on his own, in management in a major retail organization, and a good leader.
I cut my ties to the BSA when they allowed homosexual Scouts, knowing what the endgame would be.

Spot on. We’ve been fighting rearguard actions throughout the entire 20th century. We need a strong offense.
Quite simple. Get your boys out of boy scouts now.
Women have been Cub den leaders since the 1930s and troop scoutmasters since the 1980s.
