Isnip)......I truly, honestly, and with all my heart and mind think Donald Trumps most ardent supporters are making a yuuuuuuge mistake. I think they are being conned and played. I feel like a guy whose brother is being taken advantage of by a grifter. Im watching helplessly as the con artist congratulates him for taking out a third mortgage......(snip)

way to zero in on the key point there....dude.
I refuted and you ignored. #butthurt.
Thanks for your response Thomas, but you make MY CASE for me. Here's how: First, I agree that we've all been screwed by those who talked a good game but jumped once elected - in fact - that's what's going to happen here.
Second: you say you've scrutinized everything, but apparently, what you mean is everything for the last 25 minutes. A full scrutiny of the Donald would have lead you to the exact opposite conclusion. And that's also Goldberg's point....if there was ever a potentially faux conservative, DONALD IS IT.
you didn’t refute anything specific....#braindead
Meaningless cartoons....your best efforts.
Says a lot.
Yes!!!
Thank you. I guess all we can do is hide and watch.
Happy trails.
Hunter got screwed by the GOPe. He wasn’t invited to the debates because his poll numbers were low, but he already had a few delegates to his name. A totally corrupt system, set up to weed out true conservatives.
Yes, he does. He said so in an exclusive FR interview during that campaign.
Jonah can't honestly argue “from the right.” Sure, he can take such a position, but even I can take a more liberal position than 0bama and effectively win there, too. Knowing how to attack someone or their ideas (Jonah and you appear to think, “why not both?”) does not make the words used any more appropriate.
You say you ‘care about the few ideas,’ but it is Jonah who is the carnival barker asking us to “step right up” and listen to him pretend to care about conservatives, when Jonah is really a RINO—and you know this.
It is, after all, people like Solson and myself that Jonah makes his appeal to, and you insist we truly listen to his words when he calls Trump enthusiasts, “his brother...being taken advantage of by a grifter...congratulating (us) for taking out a third mortgage.” In other words, you enjoy have someone call us ‘simple-minded idiots’ for being encouraged by Trump's words and actions.
Trump hasn't hurt anyone and hasn't spent anyone else’s money to posit his take on things. I would imagine his words held concepts you covet, but I can't speak for you.
Do you ever go to watch movies? Have you ever found yourself impressed with an actor or actress because they portrayed a truth that mattered to you and which needed to be conveyed in a way that caught those who otherwise wouldn't have cared?
We know it was “just an actor,” but that helped you feel justified for your own stance. You might even have encouraged friends or coworkers to see it because it would resound with them, too.
Trump is that actor, but in a very real-life sense, he's putting himself and his family and working relationships on the line. That is something no actor has done from within a movie—the very movie you thought others just had to see.
Donald is saying what needs to be said. If he attracts 15,000 or 15 million people over this, I will be happy for him. He is awakening something of great value in these people—that their honorable, legal perspectives haven't been completely discarded by the popular.
We see so many idiot actors standing up for socialist ideals (Sean Penn). These liberals capture people's attention and sway weak-minded people toward their evil goals.
To have someone stand up to counter that, even if it “sucks the air out” of the other candidates, is a welcome change.
May Trump continue his “Straight Talk Express.” We need any and everyone standing up for what is right.
It's a shame neither you nor Jonah can understand this.
Somehow I escaped the wrath of the trolls.
Wow, proud of yourself I guess. There’s nothing in your way too long post that I don’t understand. I have fully covered all of it....from the positive things Trump is bringing to the table to the fact that the more catty of Jonah’s comments were not what I liked about the article.
Dude, I get it, all of it. Period.
And remember, Trump didn’t figure out he was a conservative until well into Obama’s first term.
Were you that stupid? Did you just figure all this out, say, since 09 or 2010? I’m sorry, but neither Ted Cruz nor Scott Walker nor Rand Paul nor Bobby Jindal nor even Rick Perry ever fell for Obama, not for a second. They never fell for Hillary either?
Here comes Trump, who admittedly is tapping into anger and saying a lot of the right things, but dammit, he’s only been doing that for 15 minutes and anyone with any intellectual honesty will admit that.
And while this is going on, you don’t want to confront the fact that he’s a crony capitalist...using his powerful connections and greasing the coffers of the right Democrats in power to get his deals done...the very thing that’s destroying this economy and growing government.....by playing the crony game...and somehow THIS IS THE GUY who’s gonna make all this right?
I’m sorry...your screen name does not seem correct, on either point......
Are you off your meds? Get a clue.
I responded both times to you in a civil manner. So, if you insist on getting personal, I will with you, as well.
You obviously can't refute my logic in my posts. I have been clear and fair.
For someone who has authored books, you show a lack of maturity and class.
Total misread on your part, my point is that you were probably NOT stupid like Donald was when he fell for Hillary... fell for Obama...and fell for universal Canadian style health care...
My point was that you probably were NOT that stupid. My assumption was giving you the benefit of the doubt. Sorry if you took it that way.
Now, IF you did indeed fall for all of these things...well....that’s another story. But I seriously doubt you did.
“And remember, Trump didnt figure out he was a conservative until well into Obamas first term.”
I generally agree with this, but when he took the 0bama birth certificate issue on, he has stayed with it. Remember, unlike other presidents, 0bama has kept any official copy under lock and key in Hawaii, and the one he posted on the White House page had discrepancies. Score one for Trump, here.
(Skipping the “stupid” comment)
“Here comes Trump, who admittedly is tapping into anger and saying a lot of the right things, but dammit, hes only been doing that for 15 minutes and anyone with any intellectual honesty will admit that.”
I fully agree it's been only recently he's trumpeted (pun intended) such a view. However, if Madonna, whom I despise, started saying such things and backing them up by losing millions of dollars from signed agreements being canceled, I'd be giving her a similar “thumbs up” to the exact, same degree.
“And while this is going on, you dont want to confront the fact that hes a crony capitalist...and somehow THIS IS THE GUY whos gonna make all this right?”
I don't have to describe what seems obvious—that he is opportunistic at every opportunity. I don't expect Trump will “make all this right,” but then Cruz (or Madonna, from my prior example) won't, either. I don't see how you could rationally support anyone today with such a rabid eagerness. I certainly don't have such a PollyAnnish view of anyone.
You show what I would call an “irrational fear” of the Trump situation. I am a Cruz supporter and we have only given to his run this year, but I can see value, as does Cruz, in Trump's comments.
If you don't support Cruz, who is “your guy?” Again, Cruz has backed Trump's continued comments and positions on the whole immigration blowup.
First, I am a Cruz guy first and have been since the filibuster in 2013. From that day, literally. I mean, I studied him way back in Texas - but for Prez, I thought the leadership and boldness was what we needed in these times.
My second choice is Walker, who has shown leadership and fearlessness in defeating unions in Wisconsin. Unions are a hot button of mine. I don’t think Walker is confrontational enough on the stump for a national electorate though...but I’d vote for him happily if he gets the nod.
I also applaud Donald Trump for the same reasons....leadership and boldness. I bet I’ve said it a thousand times on FR this summer. But the fact remains, this is a man who not long ago was a liberal idiot quite frankly. I can fully appreciate what he’s doing now, and still fully oppose him on the intellectual grounds that his conservatism is not only new, but not totally consistent and not at all deeply grounded. To me there’s no contradiction there.
You and I really disagree on very little. If I might, I think you jumped to some conclusions about my motivations and my thoughts simply because I posted this article. Understandable...not accurate though.
And my “stupid” comment really did start with “IF” - that makes it a conditional equation, not a personal insult.
Trump is just stirring the pot, softening the media, opening a big whole for our nominee to Cruz to victory.
I actually agree with that. I don’t think that’s Trumps plan, but that’s exactly how I have seen this playing out from the get go.
