....single-family zoning has roots in racial and class exclusion....
NO IT DOES NOT!!!! It has its roots in the history of this country (how America was settled) and in what became known as “the American dream”.

I listen to KIRO basically when there’s nuthin else to do...
my question remains, what female names her infant son Dori?
Not to mention they have a new way of making commercials where they splice together a bunch of statements by someone.
Listening to Dori drone on and on and on and on and on and on without even taking a breath is not spellbinding, it’s irritating as hell!
AWB... AWB... AWB...
Jeesh already!

How about huge high rises, like in Blade Runner, with little hunter killer drones zooming up and down, and far down on the ground level youd have Equity Awareness rally areas, and controlled speech zones for eco advocacy?

Not long ago, it would have been surprising that this was proposed.
Today, it’s not surprising that it was proposed.
BUT, what is surprising is that it passed a city committee with a vote of 19-3. Aren’t these people worried about re-election? Or are they dangling block-busting sales techniques in front of the homeowners, enchanting them with visions of profitable buyouts while the city crumbles?

The letter considers increasing density almost everywhere in the city, the Times reports. Lots of cities have done this before. And the result was the turning of beautiful old properties into multi-family dwellings and crackhouses, and whole sections of city into slums.

Such proposals, if adopted would have the immediate effect of RAISING prices of existing single family homes. (Simple case ofupply and demand) This would then be deemed to be somehow "unfair" so the city would then impose a flip" tax of 10% on all future sales of single family homes, with the proceeds to be used to subsidize rents for low income families.....and so it goes, and goes, and goes...

Eliminating single-family zoning, as long as it doesn’t outlaw single-family housing, actually gives more freedom and power to landowners.

This is one of the ways Obama hopes to force Section 8 into nice neighborhoods.

This change would actually return more property rights to homeowners.

These people can see racial and class exclusion in anything. Blacks (or whatever race, class) also need / own single-family homes, you know.

I assume this would apply equally to Seattle resident Bill Gates and all of his business partners.
