Is Seattle doing away with single-family homes?
My Northwest ^ | 07/07/15 | Kipp Robertson

The city needs to move away from the idea that all families can live in their own home on a piece of land, according to a draft letter from a Seattle advisory committee.

If adopted, ideas being considered by a Seattle housing committee would be devastating to the city's appeal, KIRO Radio's Dori Monson said.

Get rid of single-family zoning in Seattle. That's the big message in a draft report being worked on by Mayor Ed Murray's housing committee, obtained by The Seattle Times.

According to a draft letter, the city needs to move away from the idea that all families can live in their own home on a piece of land, the Times reports.

"Today, as Seattle expands rapidly and experiences massive economic and population growth, we are held back by policies and historical precedents that are no longer viable for the long-term survival or our city," the draft letter from committee co-chairs Faith Pettis and David Werthheimer states.

The draft letter says that single-family zoning has "roots in racial and class exclusion. The zoning remains "among the largest obstacles to realizing the city's goals for equity and affordability," the Times reports.

"So owning your own home, on your own lot, is a blow against equity, according to this draft report," Dori said.

Some of the challenges the city faces includes almost two-thirds of the urban land being restricted to single-family homes, the letter continues. The letter considers increasing density almost everywhere in the city, the Times reports.

With a 19-3 vote, the committee recommends replacing single-family zoning with zoning that would allow for more multi-unit buildings, according to the Times.

No, the mayor and council members should open their own homes to addtional families. Based upon their 200 square feet, a council member with a 1800 sqft house could get in 8 more families.

As soon as they do that first and live that way for a year. Ask them if they still think it is a good idea. of course the additional families will NOT be charged rent by the soviet council members.

Rebuilding the Soviet Union one step at a time. Only THIS time we’ll get it right. Utopia is just around the corner.

It’s an UN Agenda 21 program. The country is subservient to it.

Reminds me of a Toy Building Set I had when I was a kid.

Plastic Girders that snapped together and Plastic Window Panels. I can’t remember what they called the Set.

I suspect drone fire bombing will be on the rise in the near future
when people get fed up with this Anti-Americanism. It's a natural
evolution of technology.

you have to love our overlords! Warehouse all of us serfs in our tiny prison cells, take away what few remaining rights we have, allow us to walk to work, if we have any, and then kill us off at a certain age so we are not a burden on the state’s “health care” finances. What a glorious future they have centrally planned for us!

Too bad I won’t be participating.

Can we force a city/county/state to secede? These idgits need to live in their own little country, where they can wreak whatever damage their subjects can put up with.

"the city needs to move away from the idea that all families can live in their own home on a piece of land"

Gee, Dad. What does this mean?

Well, Beaver, the communists have always opposed private property ownership and strong, happy, normal families. And the communists on the city council has decided that we wont be allowed to own our own home anymore as we have for many years. So they'll round us up and put us in an apartment for our own good.

So we will be better off since its for our own good?

No, son. Just because they say its for our own good doesnt mean we will be better off.

Then why are they doing it then?

To hold power over us. You see son, inside every human being is a potential little dictator wanting for everyone to do things his way. Some of these people get elected to office and then they think this is their opportunity to make everyone bend to his will, even if he has to abuse his power and make people do what he wants by force.

Well, after they make us live in an apartment building, then they will be happy and leave us alone.

I'm afraid not, son. You see, once they have gotten their way on that, they get drunk with power and decide to dictate to us on many other things as well.

Then whats next dad?

Oh, load us up in boxcars and ship us off to concentration camps.

And then what?

They exterminate us.

devastating to the city's appeal

What appeal? It rains 9 months out of the year and is populated by fags and goth gangsters (according to that tv series, The Killing). Seriously, it doesn't sound like an appealing place. Especially with the obvious dominance of liberalism.
