The Memphis City Council approved a resolution to move the remains of Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest.
Mayor Wharton said this is a movement designed to honor Forrest’s will and testament, in which his last wish was that he and his wife be buried at Elmwood Cemetery.

Forrest was a complicated guy, and if you read a couple of speeches he made late in life, you might doubt he was a racist.
But I think his public image problem started with eating those babies for breakfast, after Fort Pillow....

If Forrest was as racist as the Memphis city council seems to believe, he would approve wholeheartedly of his remains being moved out of that city.

i was driving through memphis the other day and a talking head was talking of a budget “crisis” exhuming graves isnt cheap i wonder how this feel good act of bufoonery will be paid for?
