What Greeks are saying to Europe: We won't be bullied
Fortune ^

The size of the victory went well beyond the polling consensus that the referendum was too close to call. Six out of ten Greeks said “no” to European Union demands – a staggering figure in any election. This suggests that Tsipras tapped into a deep-seated feeling among Greeks to send the EU a message.

That message is not just a “no” to austerity. It’s a “no” to how Greeks have been portrayed by European politicians and media: they live off EU largesse, avoid taxes, spend lavishly. More painfully, Greeks have been portrayed as lazy, and don’t pay a price for violating the EU’s complicated budget rules.

“No” clearly spoke for a touched-nerve, particularly in rural, private-sector Greece

Greeks demand the northern Europeans maintain them in the style to which they have become accustomed.

Borrowed money, will not pay it back.

Maybe the EU should just send Quido?

Bullying Greece? If Greece borrowed the. Money she should pay it back in full.

Try doing that yourself and see what happens.

yup- being required to pay back money you borrowed = being bullied...

I had a conversation with a guy in the gym this morning who said, “the greeks will never learn.”...i said, “really? as long as they keep setting the terms and not paying back the money they owe it seems others will never learn”...

If this whole scenario was on a street level scale the lenders would be asking Greece how much they value their knee caps. And Greece certainly wouldn’t be copping an attitude with Gunther, the collections guy.

It has been my experience that people who choose slow death invariably recant their choice as the slow death is occurring.

Greece has not done themselves any favors.

We should be watching closely, as if the “Spirit of Future Economies” has decided to give us a peek at one of our possible futures if we don’t change our ways.

UK news reported only 61% eligible voter turn out on this pivotal vote. Guess the other 39% were too busy trying to book out of Dodge.

The socialists in Greece have the narrative. This is not about money. It’s about power and the socialists were willing to bankrupt a nation to take the power.

This is no different than any other socialist country experienced over the last 100 years. The sheep are being herded to slaughter by useful idiots carrying professionally made placards.

Easiest way to find out who is behind this? Check who had the placards made.

What they’re really saying is: “We borrowed your money, you loaned it in good faith that we’ll pay it back. Sorry, won’t do it, what’re you gonna do?”

It reminds me of the roommate I had once who refused to pay the money he owed the bank because “He already spent it”. He really thought that was an adequate reason.
