MACKINAC ISLAND, Mich. (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz plans to speak at a GOP leadership gathering in Michigan in September.
The Michigan Republican Party announced Wednesday that the U.S. senator from Texas will attend the 31st Biennial Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.
In a statement, Michigan Republican Party Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel says she is glad to “add another fresh and positive Republican perspective” to a “great lineup” at the meeting.
The party last week announced that another GOP presidential candidate, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, will speak at the conference scheduled for Sept. 18-20.
Other Republican speakers will be announced at a later date.

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldnt make any sense at all." -- President Ronald Reagan |

Actually seems a peculiar place for such an event. Not particularly “grassroots”, now is it?

Love to see him come to some of the Tea Party haunts in S.E. Michigan via his Bus. The Willow Run Tea Party Caucus would love to have him drop by the Blue Sky Diner and the Rattle with us folks would love to have him so up @ one of their meetings at the Cultural Center...

Mackinac Island is actually a great place. - Mackinac Center for the Advancement of Liberty and Opportunity does a lot in Michigan for Conservative Values in Michigan. It seems for it to be an oddity for it to take place on Mackinac Island at the Grand Hotel. But Mackinac Island is actually open year round, during the winter accessible by plane and snowmobile.
many doctors appointments have been achieved at the new Mackinac Straits Hospital.

Its where the roots of the national RTW movement began to grow.
