And I have a choice as to whether I get my teeth cleaned, no one is forcing me to do it.
I’m not convinced one way or the other as to the safety of vaccines. Certainly they can, but not always, prevent one from catching a disease they’d rather not have. But they can also cause some severe problems, per the literature that the manufacturers include with the doses. Maybe some day they’ll be able to tell beforehand who will and who won’t have an adverse reaction. Until then I dont believe in forcing people to have a vaccine they don’t want. I have no problem with the recent California law, there is still the alternative of homeschooling for parents who choose not to vaccinate their children.
Drunk drivers will kill more people this week than measles will. WAY MORE.
I don’t have a particular dog in this fight, but your comment: “But they can also cause some severe problems, per the literature that the manufacturers include with the doses” is the old correlation versus conservation confusion. If something has happened when the vaccine was being taken or shortly thereafter, it is included in that list. We don’t know if the vaccine had anything to do with the condition. You have to look at the numbers for the clearest picture.
The list of possible side effects is something that is on everything, including OTC medicines. Nothing is completely without risk, but vaccines are as safe or safer than just about any drug or treatment one can have.
If it just affected the people who didn’t want to be vaccinated, then it would be their problem. The fact that they endanger the public at large, and babies in particular, is inexcusable.
