It seems that many comic book writers these days are flaming PC fools.

Actually, it sounds interesting. Like TV situation comedies, you can tell the same story over and over just so many times before it becomes a bore. See also the changes being made in Archie comics.

And many journalists are “breathless” Nancy-boys.

“It seems that many comic book writers these days are flaming PC fools.”

Haven’t they made many long time favorite comic book characters homosexual?

Aren’t they trying to promote homosexuality to children?

A grown man writing about how he still reads Superman comics regularly? And I’m supposed to take him seriously?

If that leaves him breathless then he needs to add some cardio to his workouts.

scanned the clips on the ‘news’ story. looked for the demographics and the roles played.

it was the typical evil white guys and understanding/authoritative/supportive/sympathetic black guys.

pretty much the same things you’ll see on the various sitcoms on prime time these days.

they don’t call it ‘programming’ for nothing

Why didn’t they just have Superman beat the crap out of the cop who just shot Lois’ sweet little dog because he felt threatened.

Perfect story line. Makes most happy.

I stopped reading comic books regularly in my early teens, but many adults do read them regularly and you can probably find some of them right here on FR.

Anyone that's interested in viewing the story with its proper context can read it for themselves here.

I don’t read comics. I never have. As a text with graphics medium, I do think they an interesting presentation. I think the process is worthy of study, if nothing else.

It does bother me that they take what should be a positive roll model for kids, and mess with it.

When I was a kid, I enjoyed watching the Lone Ranger and Roy Rogers. It would have been very upsetting if they had turned these two into crooks for a while, or had even made it ambiguous their legal status. I’m glad they didn’t.

It seems to me that these comic figures are being twisted by folks who like to live twisted lives themselves. To heck with the kids, toy with the story lines any way you like responsibly or not. After all, it doesn’t matter. Well, yes it does matter.

More kids today need a positive role model than ever before. They need to know there are good people out there who will fight on behalf of good, simply because it is right to do so.

In a society with fewer and fewer black and white examples of good vs evil, there are some areas of life, that shouldn’t be corrupted on a whim.

Then there are us who enjoy comics vicariously through our kids ...

:-)

Of course the DC “New 52” series isn’t really targeted to kids. How Kori/Starfire is both drawn and written as an exceptionally hot alien chick who screws every guy who crosses her path, for instance.

Kids of that age group get refreshed constantly, are you saying that guys read children's comics their entire life?

Then why bother publishing new stuff at all? Just recycle old mags for new. The kids will never know and think of the money they’d save.

The guys secret identity was wearing glasses and acting like a doofus. And no one figured out it was Superman?

At least Batman wore a mask.

They don’t to totally revamp everything, for every new batch of children.
