Gov. Scott Walker attends Wauwatosa bike race weeks before expected presidential run announcement

About two weeks before Gov. Scott Walker is expected to announce his presidential bid, neighbors welcomed him at a lawn party along the East Tosa Gran Prix bike race route in Wauwatosa Sunday, June 28.

Walker flew in the night before the race from the Western Conservative Summit in Denver. During a short stay in Wauwatosa, he said he mowed the lawn at his house where his parents live, and came to the bike race to spend time with friends.

"Here, we're just Scott and Tonette, not the governor and first lady," Walker said.

Walker says Tosa will 'always be home'

Walker blended in among neighbors as he enjoyed a brat and beer, and watched the cyclists whiz by on Meinecke Avenue. He said he likes returning to Wauwatosa because he tends not to cause as much of a stir as in other places.

"Unlike other places, most people we see here are people we know," Walker said. "That's why we like to come here to go out to eat. Usually people aren't coming up to us to get a photo; they're just coming up to say hi."

Gene Genal, one of the neighbors at the gathering, said he knew Walker since their kids attended Roosevelt Elementary together about 15 years ago. Despite Walker position in the national spotlight, Genal said it still feels casual when they get together.

"He's just part of us," Genal said. "We still do enough stuff together that it's just fun."

Although Walker's Wauwatosa house is now primarily occupied by his parents, Walker said he likes to stop through whenever he can after events in Milwaukee.

"We love folks here," Walker said. "Wauwatosa will always be home for us."

Good thing he is not on public transportation, otherwise, the press would have a field day about his man-spreading. Who knows it may become a topical anyway. You know liberals, attack, attack, attack.

I keep getting emails asking for more money, and; I keep replying -”I have given you enough until you make a positive announcement that you are running!” I seem to recall the funds went to MN not WI.
