Macy's cuts ties with Trump over Mexican immigration comments
Los Angeles Times ^ | July 1, 2015 | By Stephen Battaglio

Macy's is joining the line of companies cutting ties with Donald Trump over the real estate mogul's comments about Mexican immigrants.

In this case, it's neckties. The retailer has marketed a line of menswear with the Trump label since 2004. But in a statement issued Wednesday, Macy's said it was "disappointed and distressed" over Trump's June 16 remarks regarding U.S. immigration policy in which he made derogatory remarks about Mexicans. He said Mexican immigrants were bringing drug and crime into the U.S.

"We have no tolerance for discrimination in any form," Macy's said in a statement.

Trump made the comments at the kickoff of his campaign for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination and has been taking heat ever since.

Trump has already lost business from Univision, which will not air the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants. NBC, Trump's partners in the pageants, has also announced it will sever ties with Trump, and will keep him off his hit reality show "Celebrity Apprentice." Mexican TV companies Televisa and TV Ora have also parted ways with Trump.

The move by Macy's is a sign that the Trump brand name, a major source of income for the billionaire, is becoming tarnished as a result of the controversy.

The ties and shirts in the Trump line were still on the Macy's website Wednesday at discounted prices. . .

Watch, he’s going to sell his ties on his online campaign website and make more money than he ever would have made a Macy’s.

LOL, so you’re a part of the problem. Very nice.

No wonder you have no problem with tens of millions of U. S. Citizen out of work.

No wonder you don’t place much emphasis on the issues I listed.

You’re willing to sell out the United States too.

What are you doing here?

Wow so if I work for a multi-national I can’t be a good citizen? Where do we all go? There are millions of us in this country born and bred here and providing some of the best salaries and technologies available. Too bad you think so badly of us.

If we’re talking about a multinational corporation that merely provides the same services in other nations, then you have a point.

If we are talking about displacement of U. S. workers by foreign nationals, then you don’t.

But then you knew that didn’t you.

There was no need to bring up your participation in a multi-national organization if it didn’t displace U. S. workers.

So why did you, if it doesn’t?

Are you too simple minded to grasp this issue?

I have no idea what you are talking about. There are thousands of us employed in the US in the country I work for. Please stop talking like a loon.

Macy’s is today what JCPenney was yesterday. The place has gone totally ghetto from its heyday.

You are a Clinton operative right? You sound just like her and are as scared of Trump as she is.

I’m not talking like a loon.

However you are talking like a person who is too simple minded to discuss this issue.

You response didn’t even address the point I made.

Instead you moved the point away from displacement of U. S. workers, to one of there still being some workers left in the U. S.

You really don’t understand this issue do you.

If your final election choice was Jeb Bush for the GOP, Hillary Clinton for the CCCP, and Donald Trump as an independent, what would you do? (And blowing your brains out is not an option.)

Who was displaced in my company? No one that I know of. Most of us have been working for more than ten years and the number has expanded so who was displaced? Just because we didn't hire you?

Exactly which country do you work for? The one that is destroying the U.S.A.?

I would not vote for Jeb or Hillary.

Perhaps it would be educational for the GOPe to see how many votes Trump got, and realize they could have had them if they had only adopted his immigration and trade views.

I bet you hear complaints all the time, and I’m sure most of them are not the fault of the sales associates..I’m sorry if I sound angry at the staff. I’m not!! Most of the people who work at my local store are nice, and helpful, too..but I do wonder what’s wrong with upper management that they make it so difficult to shop there!!

Sad to say I work for a company that caves in.

Sadder to say that this has become the rule, not the exception.

Uh, no.

It is a sign that an orchestrated campaign by Communist idiots is working against timid and feckless corporate bosses.

I have been dealing with disinformation people on this and other forums for decades. Each of you think you’re just too smart for the rest of us. You each out yourselves through your arguments, and prove that you’re not smart enough to engage the rest of us.

I addressed a number of reasons why I think our elected leaders don’t care about our sovereignty or continuation of our nation down the road. You objected.

You selected a point to use as a wedge issue. It was one of multi-national organizations.

You decided that you could make points by stating you worked for a multi-national company.

That wasn’t the issue. Reasoned non-destructive commerce has never been the issue for any of us. So your mention of your employment fell under one or both of the following categories.

1. It didn’t belong in this conversation because it had no bearing on it
2. It was raised under a false flag to try to confuse people on the subject.

I already mentioned that if your company did not displace U. S. workers, it had no bearing on this issue. Mentioning it would only serve to attempt to influence folks to think I objected to all multi-national companies, thus making me look unreasoned.

FAIL!

Then you addressed the issue of displacement of your workers here in the U. S. That may or may not mean what you attempted to make it seem it did.

You stated that everyone has been at your company for over a decade, and that they have even added workers.

What you didn’t address is what type of a company it is.

Is it a company that off-shores work? You didn’t say did you.

Your parent organization here in the U. S. could easily have facilitated work off-shore since the late 1990s, and still be doing it.

What this would mean, is that your parent office here in the U. S. could actually have added employees, but at the same time could have facilitated the loss of tens of thousands of jobs outside your office to foreign nationals.

You didn’t bother to address the possibility of that did you.

So we’re left with three factors to contemplate.

One, you should not have mentioned your participation in a multi-national company in the first place if it didn’t off-shore work.

Two, you should have come clean about displacement of American jobs if it was taking place.

Three, you should have admitted that if two wasn’t a factor, that you were simply gaming the conversation by even mentioning your multi-national company in the first place for propaganda value.
