Southern states including Alabama, Mississippi and Texas are trying to find legal ways to avoid the Supreme Courts ruling that legalized same-sex marriage across the United States.
Christian News Network reports Mississippi is considering removing state marriage licenses entirely.
State House Judiciary Chairman Andy Gipson said, One of the options that other states have looked at is removing the state marriage license requirement. We will be researching what options there are. I personally can see pros and cons to that. I dont know if it would be better to have no marriage certificate sponsored by the state or not. But its an option out there to be considered.
Neighboring Alabama has frozen all marriage licenses in part of the state. Christian Today reports three counties are denying all couples marriage licenses, arguing that the states code says judges may issue licenses but they do not have to.
Judge Fred Hamic said, Section 30-1-9 of the Alabama Code of 1975 says a probate judge may issue a marriage license It doesnt say a probate judge has to issue a marriage license. I will not be doing any more ceremonies.
Alabama Judge Wes Allen agreed.
My office discontinued issuing marriage licenses in February, and I have no plans to put Pike County back into the marriage business, he said.
In Texas, Attorney General Ken Paxton made a statement that county clerks who do not agree with same-sex marriage could refuse marriage licenses to gay couples.
According to Paxton, "County clerks and their employees retain religious freedoms that may allow accommodation of their religious objections to issuing same-sex marriage licenses.
"Justices of the peace and judges similarly retain religious freedoms and may claim that the government cannot force them to conduct same-sex wedding ceremonies over their religious objections.
The Attorney General further stated that those who refuse to issue gay marriage licenses could be sued for discrimination, but ample legal support would be available to defend their religious beliefs.

If this is all about ‘feelings’, as Judge Kennedy has declared, then what in the world is anyone doing licensing ‘feelings’. Let individuals come up with their own contracts: 5 years, 10 years, visitation, property, etc.
If a minister already has refused to marry some couples (maybe their marriage history disqualifies them?), I don't think he could be prosecuted for discrimination if he declines to perform a wedding for a couple fags.
It seems to me that secession would be the only way around it at this point.
I wish the several states would turn this into a Constitutional crisis that would lead to a divorce.
Turn over all licensing to recognized religious organizations where only church members are issued a state recognized license. Convert marriage to a private religious enterprise the state will recognize for tax filing purposes.
Exactly. Every time we try to get around it we expose our flank.
Well, if they are serious they could use the Andrew Jackson precedent and just ignore it. Someone has to say no to the playground bully.

I’ve heard a lot of talk by commentators and politicians and preachers, but I’ve seen no one leading anything.
I think everyone is off balance, unsure which way to react.
Until a leader has a clear vision and then steps forward to lead, I expect Christians will complain but not act, and that their lack of action will prompt the liberals to tighten the screws on persecution.

We’ve pretty much just limited weddings to member of our congregation and their children and speficially added to bylaws that we will only acutally marriage.
I absolutely agree with that. I think a union of states/governors/AGs would be a scary thing to the liberals.
Ted Cruz: States should ignore gay-marriage ruling
“I don’t think he could be prosecuted for discrimination if he declines to perform a wedding for a couple of fags.”
Wanna bet? It’s a “whole new world”, and Christians are “evil, hateful discriminatory people with no souls”.
Then I compared gay marriage to a $100 bill. In my mind a gay marriage is a counterfeit marriage—it's not really a marriage. In that sense gay marriage is a counterfeit $100 bill. If I'm holding a genuine $100 bill my bill still has value (it's going down in value every day, but that's another story). If a community is flooded with counterfeit $100 bills eventually all businesses will stop accepting ALL $100 bills, and my genuine $100 bill is now worthless.
Marriage is losing its value to many of today's younger heteros, flooding the market with counterfeit marriage can only accelerate that trend.
Not likely to happen. Think it through. Urban areas are leftist. So in Texas you think Houston, Dallas, Austin, etc would agree to secede? Or counties around the urban areas would somehow coalesce and secede without the resources in the big cities?
We also no longer have great statesmen in the South like we did in the Civil War area. Yeah we have a few like Sessions and Cruz but not many and even Alabama’s governor is a RINO. There are no politicians calling for secession.
Stop Homo Marriages can be done by:
1. Pass a Constitutional Amendment
3/4 States (38) need to approve amendment.
26 amendments have been passed by this method.
This approach can be done but it will take time.
Homo’s represent less than 4% of the population and there are less than 100,000 Homo marriages.
2. Passage of a congressional bill.
Bills are currently being drafted to block Homo marriages. This is a faster method but will face many road blocks
3. State Marriage application Blood tests.
Most States have implemented blood tests for marriage applications. If disease is found than block the marriage license applications. This is a temporary fix, but a time limit can be placed on the application.
Just act like progressives.
1. Ignore it.
2. Protest....violently, if necessary. After all, certain people who have cereal box top degrees in “eddikation” bombed things and got away with it.
3. Make liberal judges quake in their homes and worry about keeping lights on at night.
4. Fire EVERY teacher possessing only a worthless education degree and require teachers to have actual working knowledge in their fields. This does not necessarily mean a college degree. After all, Dorkbama has a degree and he couldn’t hold a real McDonald’s job.
Treat them as they have treated us.
