Advice And Consent: Liberals are cheering "conservative" Justice Anthony Kennedy for the votes he cast on gay marriage, ObamaCare and minority housing rights. But it's another Kennedy they should be thanking.
It was because Ted Kennedy "borked" President Reagan's first choice for a vacancy on the bench in 1987 that the Left has Justice Kennedy to do its bidding. The Democrat senator led a witch hunt against true conservative Robert Bork, smearing the respected jurist as a right-wing troglodyte.
After the Senate rejected Bork, 58-42, Reagan turned to conservative Douglas Ginsburg, who was impeached in the liberal media before he ever got the chance to raise his hand in the Senate. That left a frustrated Reagan with a distant third choice a nominal San Francisco conservative who met with enough liberal approval to sail through confirmation.
And Anthony McLeod Kennedy didn't disappoint his Democrat rubber-stampers. Five years later, despite stated pro-life views, he supplied the fifth vote to re-affirm Roe v. Wade.
Now, with his swing vote allowing gay marriage, he's being embraced as the "first gay justice" by the LGBT lobby.

Who is NOT lying in today’s corrupt politics??
NEVER believe anything you hear, and about half of what you actually see...and you will probably be OK.
Eternity will be very long and unpleasant for Kennedy.
Between the gay “marriage” ruling and PP v. Casey he has a lot to answer for.
Bork died in 2012 at age 85. So if he had been on the court, Obama would have been nominating his replacement.
Reagan was so easily fooled in so many situations.
He acted like Ford appointed him instead of Reagan.
I am sure there were ton more choices then Kennedy. This is one of two errors that Reagan made. Heck even if he kept the position vacant for awhile to regroup would have been better. Bork ended up just as liberal as Kennedy especially on social issues so Bork may have voted the same as Kennedy had he lived.
Bill Bennett had a big hand in scuttling that nomination because of Ginsburg's past use of marijuana.
nonsense.
he believed in following the text of the Constitution. Bork.
Yes, the serial gambling addict had a problem with a marijuana user.
a reminder that it was the deep south that gave us Kennedy.
LA, MS, AL, GA ... they voted 1 YEA & 7 NAY on Bork.
go figure.
Reagan was so easily fooled in so many situations.
Reagan’s three big mistakes as president:
1. Bush
2. O’Connor
3. Kennedy
At the time, how many of the senators in those states were RATS? All but Cochran, I believe. Democrats gave us Kennedy.
and Southern white voters gave us the Democrat Senators.
They’ve only recently discovered the Ten Commandments in Alabama?
Southerners are a complicated bunch.
But my experience with politicians of all stripes in the South is that they put forth an illusion of morality while doing the bidding of Big Money interests. “The love of money is the root of all evil.”
Don’t blame Reagan it was his Chief of Staff Howard Baker who dropped the ball and went hunting during the summer break that allowed Kennedy and the AFL-CIO to consolidate their smear campaign against Bork. Reagan was poorly served by many.
“Reagan was so easily fooled in so many situations”.
Not really. The Leviathan (Dialectic Materialism) was put into place long before Reagan-—and it is like being in a situation where you are tied up and blindfolded.
It was like FDR——so many Marxist plants lying and giving misinformation-—it is really hard to base anything on truth. Look how the planted Communists deluded FDR on China and Yugoslavia and Uncle Joe. We were warned in the 50s and 60s about the secret societies and the military industrial complex, but we were too ignorant or too trusting because of the miseducation in schools (like McCarthy was evil and Communism is compatible with Freedom).
Huh?
I would recommend that you read Judge Bork’s classic “Slouching Toward Gomorrah”.
It was because Ted Kennedy (D- HELL) “borked” President Reagan’s first choice for a vacancy on the bench in 1987 that the Left has Justice Kennedy to do its bidding.
