To many, America is synonymous with freedom. The country dubbed itself the "land of the free" and, when trying to reclaim sliced and fried potatoes from the French, briefly attempted to rename "French fries" as "freedom fries."
Yet America's global reputation for personal freedom has taken a beating over the last couple of years. Data from Pew Global Research suggests a dramatic fall in the number of people around the world who say the U.S. government respects the freedom of its people.
The issue may be most stark in Germany. Back in 2013, a whopping 81 percent of Germans polled by Pew thought that the U.S. government respected personal freedom. Then, in 2014, it was 58 percent. Now, according to figures released by Pew this week, just 43 percent of Germans think the U.S. government respects the freedom of its citizens. Fifty-three percent think it doesn't.

See my tag line. My Grandfather warned me to NEVER think that what happened in Germany, couldn't happen in America, if we weren't vigilant.
Meanwhile, the American Sheeple are waiting breathlessly for the next "Dancing with the Stars" to start.
I think they might have a point.
Well, this is what happens when the politicians in DC imitate the European (and even German) systems, so what do they think they’re criticizing?
When the Germans, who never met an authority they couldn’t obey, lecture Americans about freedom, we have hit rock bottom. Bring out the black bunting and flags for Independence Day 2015.
Because under the indonesian/kenyan commie - it doesn't! The krauts aren't stupid.
And they’re right.
I still have a tough time believing what my fellow countrymen have become. It took Hitler about 12 years to drive the German people insane. It took the leftists about 40 years to drive the American people insane. I'm just shocked at how rapidly everything came to a head.
This didn’t happen because of Obama. This has been approved by the GOPe.
My Grandfather lived it, surviving the 2nd World War in Germany through pretty much just dumb luck.
He was always adamant that what happened there, could happen here, and to never think it could not.
It looks like he will be proven correct, in the end.
I don’t either, not now.
When nearly half of the country would happily vote for a socialist for president, yes.. that seems to ring true.
I doubt if any West European country understands the meaning of individual freedom.
When a West European country says that America does not stand for freedom anymore that means freedom for Blacks, gays, transgenders, euthanasia, etc....
The freed East European countries understand real freedom.

My 5x great grandfather came from Germany and fought in the Lancaster County (PA) Regiment, 6th Company, 8th Battallion, commander, General George Washington. Wonder what he would say about our current state of affairs. I think he’d be furious.
Sie sind richtig.
Yes it will. You have generations of children who will grow up believing being PC is more important than human life, that saying n!gger is worse than mass murder, and people who don’t give special treatment to gays make Hitler look like a girl scout.
An excellent idea to bring out the black bunting and flags for Independence Day. Our forefathers are spinning in their graves!
I’m blessed to have been born in 1950s and lived in the last great era in which America was the undisputed preeminent power of the world.
The country’s in irreversible decline and is flaming out, but we had a great run, no?
Many many times in school someone throw up their hands in exasperation would ask, “HOW could this happen in germany...??!”
I, too, did wonder at that time.
Ya know what? I don’t wonder about that anymore.
Because I know how that happened and I see it happening in NOW.
I see it happening HERE.
Remember back when people would say, “hey its free country..!”
well, people dont say that anymore, do they?
It doesn’t.
At all.
America has become an abomination, and a dangerous one at that.
Now it’s just a “free-STUFF country!”
