(CNSNews.com) The Department of Health and Human Services most recent guidelines explaining the preventive services mandate under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Actor Obamacaresays health insurance plans must provide co-pay-free pap smears and mammograms to transgender men.
As defined by the federal Office of Personnel Management: a person assigned the female sex at birth but who identifies as male is a transgender man.
The guidelines, written as a FAQ sheet, state:
Q5: Can plans or issuers limit sex-specific recommended preventive services based on an individual's sex assigned at birth, gender identity or recorded gender?
No. Whether a sex-specific recommended preventive service that is required to be covered without cost sharing under PHS Act section 2713 and its implementing regulations is medically appropriate for a particular individual is determined by the individual's attending provider. Where an attending provider determines that a recommended preventive service is medically appropriate for the individual such as, for example, providing a mammogram or pap smear for a transgender man who has residual breast tissue or an intact cervix and the individual otherwise satisfies the criteria in the relevant recommendation or guideline as well as all other applicable coverage requirements, the plan or issuer must provide coverage for the recommended preventive service, without cost sharing, regardless of sex assigned at birth, gender identity, or gender of the individual otherwise recorded by the plan or issuer.
The FAQ goes on to state: The HRSA Guidelines include a recommendation for all FDA-approved contraceptive methods, sterilization procedures, and patient education and counseling for all women with reproductive capacity, as prescribed by a health care provider.
FDA-approved contraceptives include abortion-inducing drugs and IUDs.
CNSNews.com contacted HHS by email Thursday to ask whether the latest guidelines definitively mean that insurance companies must provide transgendered men with all forms of birth control mandated under Obamacares preventive services regulation. As of 12:50 p.m. Friday, the department had not responded.
As reported by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, 105 lawsuits have been filed against the federal government by plaintiffs who say the preventive services regulation violates their right to the free exercise of religion because it forces them to pay for or provide coverage for things in violation of their religious beliefs.
“The Onion” might as well just report the news, because the news has become parody in and of itself.
Individuals and Businesses alike need to stand up and simply say, “No. Go f*** yourself”
We’ve officially fallen down the rabbit hole.
A local TV News anchor here in San Diego (a man) had breast cancer and survived. He shared his story. It was interesting to hear.
In the last months of the 0bama Regime, Fundamental Transformation reaches the manic phase.
Really? I guess I just don’t understand all this transgender technicalities. I’m as confused as a transgender male.
So if your gender identity tells you you don’t have a prostate does that keep the cancer away?
They are insane and they have more than half the country following them down the yellow brick road to the Cuckoos Nest.
This report reminds me of a South Park episode....
You here for an abortion too? Yeah, I discovered a few days ago I wasn’t bleedin’ out my coo, so I guess I’m knocked up.
Is this doctor any good? - Mrs Garrison? - Oh, that’s me.
Hello doctor, looks like I need an abortion.
- an abortion? - Yeah, I’ve got one growing inside me.
Now, are you gonna scramble its brains or just vacuum it out? If you want you can just scramble it and I’ll queef it out myself.
- Mmister Garrison - Mrs.
Garrison.
Mmrs.
Garrison, you can’t have an abortion.
Don’t you tell me what I can and can’t do with my body! A woman has a right to choose! No, I mean you’re physically unable to have an abortion, because you can’t get pergnant.
- But I missed my period.
- You can’t have periods either.
You had a sex change, Mr.
Garrison, but you don’t have ovaries or a womb.
You don’t produce eggs.
You mean, I’ll never know what it feels like to have a baby growing inside me and then scramble its brains and vacuum it out? N-that’s right.
But I paid five thousand dollars to be a woman.
This would mean I I’m not really a woman.
Ih, I’m just a a I’m just a guy with a mutilated penis! Basically, yes.
Oh boy, do I feel like a jackass.
And if mammogram is positive, then we pay for a mastectomy (of the boob we just paid to be installed).
This is bullcr@p. It only means lots of ridiculous $$$$$ will be paid by taxpayers.
Where are they going to stick the ‘instrument’? Technically impossible, and I’d like some HHS gubmint official to try.
Then you have a trans-gender “man” that would still have a pap to smear.....
guess that would be a "Pappy Smear"
Oh then I guess prostate exams for women will be covered, right?
How incredibly insane!
One of my favorite episodes. Soon to be banned as hate speech, I’m guessing. BTT
Do all transgender “women” (male to female) get maternity insurance coverage now?
We are getting close to the edge people.
5.56mm
Gone completely insane.
I believe you nailed it.
“Does it cover prostate exams for a transgender female?”
Don’t forget the free birth control!
