The simple fact is that Dylann Roof did not shoot those people because the Confederate flag was flying on the statehouse grounds. Removing the flag will not prevent some future racist from murdering others. The flag is a scapegoat in this. A convenient symbol to blame things on because trying to find the real cause is just too hard. And politicians are jumping on the dump-the-flag bandwagon because it's easier and more poltically expedient than admitting that there really isn't anything we could have done to prevent Roof's rampage and there isn't anything we can do to prevent some future racist from doing something similar.

Lincoln wouldn’t have freed the first one had he not needed to do so in order to rally support for a war he was losing. The biggest mistake this country ever made was importing Africans.
My synopsis of the author’s two major points is as follows:
1) “I’m obnoxiously ignorant and I intend to stay that way!”
2) “I’m sanctimoniously intolerant and I intend to stay that way!”.
The Civil War was about he FEDERAL GIVERMENT and how it CAN MAKE the States SERVILE to it.. like a democracy..
Which it did... and how it could make the PEOPLE historical MORONS and civics MORONS, which it did.....
Took awhile though for the federal givernment to TAKE OVER EDUCATION.. and completely STOP teaching AMERICAN HISTORY.. and CIVICS...
TO generate a coupla generations of people with NO CLUE as to american history or even WORLD history... and have no idea about what CIVICS IS.. and how the Constitution demands that the American system should WORK...
Three governments.. LOCAL, State and federal.. NOT ONE GIVERNMENT.. America should have AND NEEDS another CIVIL WAR.. to RESTORE FREEDOM ....FROM.... GIVERNMENT..

Lighten up, John. You hate hate hate GWTW, but that has nothing to do with the rest of your rant.
GWTW was not about slaves, or any politics about civil war. But you can’t tolerate something (movie or book) told from the southern view point.

Like most good stories it’s about a hero’s journey. Starts out idyllic; quickly the indomitable hero (Scarlett) runs into troubles, then learns what REAL trouble is and has a death-rebirth in the turnips. At the end she’s lost all she thought mattered most to her and her own inessential qualities have been burned away, leaving pure steel in the spine and forward drive in the eyes.
She even achieves insight, at terrible cost. I’d call that a happy ending.
The historic details just help to present the theme using a time and place familiar to most readers.

The last couple of generations are now reaping the rewards of an affirmative action education. Ignoramuses. Republican President Lincoln abolished slavery and freed the slaves the before the end of the Civil War. There is no slavery today except in the minds of the government plantation voters, Repeat, no slavery, honest Abe.
Makes me wonder what he thinks of Michael Shara’s “The Killer Angels” and the movie “Gettysburg”.
