Report: US hostage policy to allow families to pay ransoms
In a softening of longstanding policy, the Obama administration will tell families of Americans held by terror groups that they can communicate with captors and even pay ransom without fear of prosecution -- part of a broad review of U.S. hostage guidelines that will be released Wednesday.
President Obama ordered the review last fall after the deaths of Americans held hostage by Islamic State militants. The families of some of those killed complained about their dealings with the administration, saying they were threatened with criminal prosecution if they pursued paying ransom in exchange for their loved ones' release.

This is so far beyond ‘slippery slope’....
I guess ISIS is running low on cash, and Obama wants to help them out any way he can.
Gotta get more money flowing to the Muslim Brotherhood.
Hispanic drug cartels too.
Yeah, the Kurds just took one if their bases. They need a little pick me up.
The rest is up to you.
Back-dated to Bowe Bergdah for cash & Gitmo prisoner release.
Doesn’t he take an oath to “faithfully execute the laws” of this country?
Obama does not get to pick and choose.

Oh goodie.. Now ISIS can resume hostage-taking! /s 0dumbo you ass idiot POS traitor.
I guess the president needs to issue Letters of Mark against those who practice this kidnapping for ransom against US Citizens.
This will lead to more hostage taking.
Help me please. I’ve fallen into a bad dream and can’t seem to wake up. Now its running in serial format with a new cliff hanging episode every day.
Possibly. But if it was your loved one, would you like to be shut out of the dealings in favor of some bureaucrat?
Other countries allow this. Reagan did it. It's easy to say "Never negotiate!" But in the real world, we shouldn't be governed by bumper sticker logic.
This is actually government surrendering a little power. It sounds like a positive step to me.
Why worry? All the kidnappings and violence are going to stop as soon as the Confederate Battle Flag gets banned.
You’re right, it will.... but the “important” thing is that it takes the burden of decision-making off the president, who won’t tolerate responsibility for his decisions or his failure to make decisions.
Whatever happens to hostages can thus be blamed on the families.
blame the families...exactly
White House is now encouraging hostage-taking for ransom, great job....
