As a general matter, I agree (as did Ronald Reagan) that free trade is good for America; when we open up foreign markets, it helps American farmers, ranchers, and manufacturers. But TPA in this Congress has become enmeshed in corrupt Washington backroom deal-making, along with serious concerns that it would open up the potential for sweeping changes in our laws that trade agreements typically do not include. Since the Senate first voted on TPA, there have been two material changes. First, WikiLeaks subsequently revealed new troubling information regarding the Trade in Services Agreement, or TiSA, one of the trade deals being negotiated by Obama. Despite the administrations public assurances that it was not negotiating on immigration, several chapters of the TiSA draft posted online explicitly contained potential changes in federal immigration law. TPA would cover TiSA, and therefore these changes would presumably be subject to be fast-track. When TPA last came up for a vote, both Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL)80% and I introduced amendments that would have barred fast-track treatment for any trade agreement that attempted to impact immigration law. Two other Republican senators objected, and we were both denied votes on our amendments. Instead, the House inserted substantially weaker language in related legislation.

“I still havent gotten an answer from these people as to why they still bash Cruz if he lost his support?!”
It’s a good point. I’ve decided to reel back my criticism for a few reasons: (1) I think its self defeating to not allow politicians some room to back down. We don’t want them doubling down on stupidity. (2) Ted Cruz has pretty much scuttled his campaign. Not much point in commenting on someone who is on the bottom end of the top 10 and going nowhere, And (3) if you believe that your vote doesn’t matter worth a damn anyway, then its kind of silly to spend much time debating the merits of candidates.
LOL...
Yes, he has scuttled his campaign so much he just keeps winning straw polls and raising money and campaigning in other states.
The polls put out by the MSM aren’t good ones at this point and you know it...you do a disservice trying to justify them.
But, who do you support in this race?
That is because most of these trade agreements meet the definition of a treaty. They should not be approved without 2/3 of the Senate concurring.
Name one of these fast tracked trade agreements that have benefited We the People as opposed to globalists and crony capitalists?
just one.
The bottom line is this Agreement
1. empowered Obama
2. was SECRET
3. went against the US Constitution
and Cruz
4. went against his voters and supporters
thereby vetting himself as a sell out
5. is coupled by appearance of impropriety and
conflict of interest to Goldmann Sachs.
6. empowered Obama by SECRET Agreement
This is just a continuing full-fledged attack against Ted Cruz and the good news is the attackers are not winning. The grassroots is still wild about Ted Cruz and he is building critical momentum. And the grassroots are fully awake on the importance and confusion of TPA and the trade deals. But Ted Cruz is able to win them over by articulating and clarifying to everyone’s satisfaction just what the real deal is. No one can do this better than Ted Cruz. I have never seen anyone do it better than he.
But in the heat of these discussions the attackers will mix up things and distort the narrative and we can fall prey to it.
The way I think is always context-context-context. And then I make judgments as to how important it will be to ferret out the true underlying context and engage it.
Soon the anti-Cruz army will be dispersed because there is a feedback they don’t expect. Ted’s communication ability is on par with that of Reagan’s. And his communication team will adapt and fight back as they’ve been doing. FR has always been a front line for liberals and disrupters to ‘test’ their latest ideas.
In their minds what they need is Ted apologizing for his vote. Ted will never do that. He will explain his vote in terms of practicality and truth.
Ted apologizes for unforeseen personal slights such as his recent apology to the Biden family, after delivering a reglar speech line poking fun at Biden, mentioning his name and then saying, “You know the nice thing? You don’t need a punchline. Honestly, it works, The next party you’re at, just walk up to someone and say, ‘Vice President Joe Biden’ and just close your mouth. They will crack up laughing.”.
But he was not tuned to the context that Biden’s son had died. I can bet you his communications team got a good talking to about that.
To apologize was the gentlemanly and correct thing to do.
But on politics? I expect never to hear Ted apologize for his politics. The worst I expect to hear from him is that he is reserving judgment until he has enough facts and understands the details and their implications.
“But, who do you support in this race?”
Absolutely no one. There are three logical choices for a conservative to consider in this race:
1. Pick the most comservative gop candidate you can, assuming you can find one. OR
2. Pick a conservative third party candidate. Again assuming you can find one. OR
3. Decide that your one vote in 100,000,000+ For one of two carefully selected uniparty candidates doesn’t matter worth a damn, and stay home.
So far, choice #3 is looking really good.
LOL...right. I am guessing neither Cruz nor Jindal are Conservative enough for you?
Option 3: Vote Hillary. That explains a lot about you...
He did this to himself by choosing Obama and SECRECY
and corporate and foreign interests
over his voters, supporters and TEA Party.

To fortheDeclaration:
I have responded to people that are confused and seeking clarification and I have provided links and those links were to government or congressional links, they were not links to Wikipedia or to Politico. And if I did give a link to a known biased source such as the NY Times, I cautioned about it first.
There are a large number of persons on these Cruz threads that are asking for help to get information that will help them get clear. Sometimes they fall victim to other people’s rants and they are disappointed. They ask me for another viewpoint.
For example,
Here is a person that was down on Cruz but was willing to read and study:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3303287/posts?page=34#34
and then he thanked me. I never called him a troll.
Collectively I call trolls to the group that buzzes about from thread repeating the same disinformation and confusion and who have been corrected time and time again but refuse to learn because they have an agenda to create doubt and uncertainty. They do not respond to facts or reason or anything that gets in the way of their agenda. These people are trolls.
TPA is not the problem....Its how its been altered and that was done by Boehner .
TPA enabling and fast tracking secret Obama trade agreements was/is the problem.
Only if you wish those Obama agreements to pass Congress was/is this TPA “not a problem”. I myself never wished to enable any secret Obama agreements. All flavors of this TPA did/do that. Belatedly as it may be, I’m glad to see Cruz come to that opinion also.
And repeating that simple fact is what you regard as 'trolling'.
My views on Cruz have been pretty favorable up until now. Now I have my doubts about his integrity and/or capability. I’m not ruling out voting for him, but I think his real motivations need much closer scrutiny. 0vomit, after campaigning as a “uniter”, has made it clear that he’s all about black privilege. Will Cruz backstab all the non-Hispanics who vote for him in the same way?
At the very least, Cruz was bamboozled by McConnell. I don’t want anyone in the WH who is so easily led. He is a US Sentor, fer cryin’ out loud. He has a responsibility to know what he’s voting on. He should have enough experience in the Senate and in politics by now to know who the snakes are and who he can trust.
My overall opinion of Cruz has taken a downturn.
We are talking about OBAMA, not just any President!
“Why did Senator Sessions vote yes on the secret Iran deal?”
Can you give more information about this because I can’t find it anywhere.
I didn't say that HOSTAGE was claiming EVERYONE who opposed it was a troll, just those who wanted to pick out as ones.
The reason I didn't include Hostage in the message is because it wasn't dealing with him specifically
Now, the fact is that first Bill had as much corruption in it as the second Bill did!
So, stop blowing hot air.
There are a lot of folks who appeared suddenly when this issue came up and relentlessly pounded Cruz. Those are the folks I suspect never supported him.
I’ve been scrolling down the page to your post. So far, I have not one of
the supporters of Obamatrade.
Many of us tried to warn them.
For me it wasn’t as much about Cruz as it was about Obamatrade.
And anyone seeing my posts over the years would know I am a Conservative.
But I haven't seen you on any posts before.
Marlow I know, Xzins I know, but who are you?
