Pope Francis put his foot in his mouth by stating that weapons manufacturers cannot call themselves Christian, according to Carl Gallups, a pastor, talk-radio host and author.
Because, he says, the Bible itself offers a foundation for owning weapons.
Gallups, a former law-enforcement officer, too, who wrote Final Warning: Understanding the Trumpet Days of Revelation, told WND, Pope Francis is not thinking his declaration through considering what is said in the Bible, the same word of God the pope claims to represent to the world. The people of God have always had to possess weapons when they could do so.
In what has been described as a rambling address, Francis recently told an audience in Turin, Italy, not to put their faith in men in order to avoid war.
He then claimed: It makes me think of people, managers, businessmen who call themselves Christian and they manufacture weapons. That leads to a bit of distrust, doesnt it?
Gallups says the pope was being careless in his remarks, especially when it comes to challenging the faith of those who carry weapons as part of their job.

I really doubt his intelligence.
The pope grew up in a time when it was not popular to actually read the Bible. I seriously doubt he has any major clues and feels he should rewrite the parts that don’t appeal to him.
Here’s the catechism on it:
Legitimate defense
2263 The legitimate defense of persons and societies is not an exception to the prohibition against the murder of the innocent that constitutes intentional killing. “The act of self-defense can have a double effect: the preservation of one’s own life; and the killing of the aggressor. . . . The one is intended, the other is not.”65
2264 Love toward oneself remains a fundamental principle of morality. Therefore it is legitimate to insist on respect for one’s own right to life. Someone who defends his life is not guilty of murder even if he is forced to deal his aggressor a lethal blow:
If a man in self-defense uses more than necessary violence, it will be unlawful: whereas if he repels force with moderation, his defense will be lawful. . . . Nor is it necessary for salvation that a man omit the act of moderate self-defense to avoid killing the other man, since one is bound to take more care of one’s own life than of another’s.
What happened is that the Argentine Commie “jumped the shark”.
If I were Catholic I would consider this a sign to convert.
Add to that the passage in the gospel in which Jesus advises his disciples to sell an extra cloak and buy a sword for their travels. Also, the 144th psalm which begins “Blessed be the Lord my rock, who teacheth my hands to war and my fingers to fight”.
CC
“Those who beat their swords into plowshares will plow for those who didn’t”
I’d tell this idiot to read a book on Thermodynamics except he would probably ask if the Church of Thermodynamics needed him to talk about Global Warming.
27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with social religion.

Criminals, cardinals, collectivists, communists and creeps are running rampant throughout the republic. Progressives, popes, punks, socialists, scumbags and scammers too.
“legitimate defense can be not only a right but a grave duty for someone responsible for another’s life, the common good of the family or of the State”. - Catechism of the Catholic Church, No. 2266
” I seriously doubt he has any major clues and feels he should rewrite the parts that dont appeal to him.”
Most Catholics I know take a liberal interpretation to the Bible. They put far more emphasis on Church doctrine than the Bible.
Many pundits discuss this “encyclical” seriously as a religious document. I don’t think this Pope is about religion, although he uses religious trappings as a crutch. This Pope is a politician/entertainer/con man - ala Hugo Chavez.
Maybe he thinks he has a best-seller in the works, due to conservative opprobrium and liberal adoration - sort of like a “banned in Boston” effect.
According to a report in the Wall Street Journal yesterday, the encyclical is available for pre-order, in book form, for $13.95, on the web site of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. In a little while, publishing contracts will be up for grabs and will be issued by the official publishing office of the Vatican.
Apparently, this Vatican has decided that it’s good business (i.e., capitalistic) sense to come out in favor of denigrating capitalism.
Luke 22:36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.
38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.
39 And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.
I hear ya.
What we have heard from his lips is just the beginning of it all...wait and see. There is coming a day when many here are going to have to make a choice.
Yes they do. Jesus tells me all I need to know regarding man's (read: CHURCH) tradition vs Sola Scriptura:
"Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that." - Mark 7:13
"Were I to write for him my laws by the ten thousands, they would be regarded as a strange thing." - Hosea 8:12
"But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men." - Matthew 15:9
Read the Bible....and SEE for yourself. If man's dogma contradicts the scripture, there is only ONE who can be right...and it is not man. Atheists are not going to heaven because they do good and we are not united by the Love of Christ. Believers are united by FAITH in Christ and Christ alone. That is the Gospel. Period. End of Story.
Well, come on over. The water’s fine.
Here is where I, as a Baptist preacher, have an issue with the Pope...especially this Pope: As ministers of the Gospel...our job is to PREACH the gospel. Period. Christ and Him crucified (1 Cor 2:2). We will disagree with the authority of the Pope...and I know you know that...but the problem I really have is this: If one is the vicar of Christ...then one should do as Christ did...and Christ had one mission: The salvation of mankind by preaching "repent and believe." Everything else is fluff and manmade foolishness.
Now...please do not get me wrong...I see the same problems in my protestant and evangelical brethren. They've filled their churches with programs to catch fish instead of throwing out the fishing line of the Gospel of Christ. They stand condemned as well and I do my fair share of letting them know it.
But here is what really puzzles me: The church authority issue, as believed by Catholics. How can San Fran Nan stand up and say she is a mainstream Catholic (and she is right if you look at the stats of American Catholics...their worship (mass) attendance, how they vote...their support of same-sex marriage and abortion rights...etc)...how can ANY catholic stand up and say that and disagree with two fundamental stances of the Catholic Church: Anti-Abortion and ant-homosexuality? How can Bishops get away with disagreeing with that? How can Cardinals disagree with that and let their congregants violate it?
Why won't the first thing Pope Francis does in the US in September be pointing his finger at all the pro-choice Catholics in congress and telling them to repent or be excommunicated? That's what a leader does.
So, I guess it boils down to this: I think Catholics believe in Papal authority in theory...but in practice it means squat...because if it actually meant something, Ted Kennedy would have been out a long time ago...and Nancy Pelosi and her ilk would be excommunicated and publically condemned long ago. Any Bishop or cardinal that strayed from Catholic doctrine would be gone. So, from an outsiders point of view....he really has no power if following the vicar of Christ is one's choice without consequence. If it's a choice, then its really not authority.
As a member of the armed forces, I have no choices. Well, that's not true...I can either follow an unlawful order or leave...and leave is just what I am prepared to do the second someone asks me to violate my oath.
This Pope sides with Satan. He loves evil. His fangs drip with the blood of innocent infants. He will sanction abortion and cannibalism and pedophelia before too long.
