(CNN)Walmart, the country's largest retailer, will remove all Confederate flag merchandise from its stores, the company told CNN Monday.
The announcement is the latest indication that the flag, a symbol of the slave-holding South, has become toxic in the aftermath of a shooting last week at a historic African-American church in Charleston, South Carolina. Gov. Nikki Haley announced in a Monday afternoon news conference that she supports removing the Confederate flag from the state capitol grounds.
Walmart.com currently carries the Confederate flag as well as attire featuring the flag's design, such as T-shirts and belt buckles.
"We never want to offend anyone with the products that we offer. We have taken steps to remove all items promoting the confederate flag from our assortment -- whether in our stores or on our web site," said Walmart spokesman Brian Nick. "We have a process in place to help lead us to the right decisions when it comes to the merchandise we sell. Still, at times, items make their way into our assortment improperly -- this is one of those instances."

That will never happen.
That is -huge- bucks, right there.
Just checked “Bing” Buy Confederate Battle Flags, 595,000 results. Wuck Fal-Mart.
If someone would just stop selling false flags, now...
I don’t recall ever seeing any in our Walmart anyway.
Buy all the Confederate flag you want right here.
Same as the homosexuals who said they would be happy with civil unions.
You can’t make an agreement with the left as they always go back on their word and want more.
I guess a couple dozen Chinese sweatshop workers will lose their jobs over this.
Buy from Dixie outfitters too.
Screw the media and the sheep who fall for this crap.
This has me so ticked off right now.
Yes the Chinese flag is more to Walmart’s liking.
Next will be the American Flag, you know its coming, I know its coming..just a matter of time before the media and the left call the American Flag “hateful”
It’s like the Twilight Zone episode, “The Monsters are Due on Maple St.”
Actually the Washington Monument and Capitaol are rooted in Egyptian mytholdogy...their Isis and Orsious sexual organs.
That “Twilight Zone” episode is actually a very apt analogy. I always used to actually dislike the episode, because I found the portrayals of the residents too over-the-top. Was always accustomed to seeing, in real life, fellow Americans made of sterner stuff; part of our longtime culture of independence and individualism, unlike so many other parts of the globe.
But looking at the current generational crop of Americans, and how they are led by the nose with every calculated PC dictate, I find the tv-episode and its portrayals almost too reserved! My opinion of my fellow American citizens has now descended to gutter-level. A conservative supposedly has faith in the individual over the state. At this point, I have ZERO faith in either.
This will stop Global Warming
Thanks for the link. I bought 2 desk sets. I may be a Yankee but I just had to do it for:
1. free speech
2. to stand up to morons that don’t know history
3. I’m a woman. I hate being told what I can or can not do
How about not selling crap made in CHINA.
My brother lives in Charleston and he took me to a Dixie Outfitter store a couple of years ago. I’m an old man but acted like a little kid in a candy store. Any type of Southern heritage memorabilia you can think of.
If they don’t have it they can print it too.
I hate the pitbull shirts with a battle flag , but the historic ones of Stonewall etc I do like.
Im offended by a lot of the products Walmart sells I wonder when they will keep their word and stop selling them as well.
Their merchandise is Chinese ‘sweat box’ seconds, their fruit and vegetables quality are second-rate, their ambience is like a bus station with the smell of an ape house and their prices aren’t that great anymore .... feck Wallyworld.
