If the Confederate flag is a sign of oppression, then so is the US flag, where slavery was legal long before the CSA adopted their flag.

If the battle flag is oppressive then so is the US one as it flew when slavery was in the north, it flew over slave ships bringing slaves here, and it certainly flew out west to the Indians who were killed, raped, robbed, and had their lands taken away.

I want both flags flying as all flags have stood for oppression in the minds of some groups

They’re coming for that, too. Mark my words.

Don’t forget that slavery existed under the British Union Jack from 1619-1776.

The US flag flew over both free and slave states.

The civilian versions of the Confederate battle flag flew only over slave states.

The forces who ended slavery fought under the US flag.

The forces who fought to preserve slavery fought under the Confederate battle flag.

The long history of the US flag as a national flag is varied.

The brief history of the Confederate battle flag as a national flag is uniform.

The significance of the Confederate battle flag is ambiguous: it symbolizes both the generally good and brave men who found themselves fighting for an evil cause, and it also symbolizes the evil cause itself.

Anyone who flies it is automatically and inescapably associated with both.

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner. Already some blacks are taking videos of themselves stomping on the US flag. It seems the only flag they want is that ugly black/red/green African-something flag.

Ah, you have hit upon a battle yet to come. Already Blacks are stomping the flag on YouTube, and many schools have said it is offensive to display it. Don't be surprised when the Left begins to demand a "new" American flag that represents the "diversity" and "immigrant contributions" and put forward a mix of African and Latin patterns and symbols. It's all coming. you heard it here first.
