'White racism,' NRA are to blame for lax gun rules, Martin O'Malley says

Democratic presidential candidate Martin OMalley suggested Sunday that Congress had fallen under the sway of "white racism" and the political force of the National Rifle Assn. in refusing to respond with new laws to a cascade of shooting incidents in recent years..
Speaking before the nations mayors, gathered in San Francisco, OMalley pointed to gun restrictions passed when he was governor of Maryland to ban assault weapons, enforce background checks and tighten permitting procedures -- efforts that have been blocked at the national level by Republicans, and some Democrats, in Congress.
"One of the sad triumphs of white racism is the degree to which it has succeeded in subconsciously convincing so many of us, black and white, that somehow black lives dont matter," he said. "If the thousands of young men killed by gun violence every year across America were young, poor and white -- rather than young, poor and black -- it is hard to imagine that our Congress would continue to block common-sense measures to keep guns out of the hands of criminals."
"How many acts of violence do we have to endure as a people before we stand up to the congressional lobbyists of the National Rifle Assn.? How many more Americans have to die?"(continued)

If you already have the black voters in your back pocket, why grab that third rail?

#BlackLivesMatter #OnlyIfPoliticallyUsefulToDemocrats. That’s why we barely hear a peep about the ongoing slaughter of blacks by thugs in “gun-free” Chicago among other places.

I think the time a politician could guilt trip whites has passed its apex. I think most of us never had any guilt feelings.

Martin, I’m sure your views of the right to free speech are also under the “Black Lives Matter” mantra.
All lives matter Martin.
The right of a man to defend himself is endowed to us from our Creator.
The rights of man does not make a distinction from governments or individuals.

But enough of us DID that we ended up making stupid voting decisions that ended up harming us...and all other Americans.
I do feel optimistic, though, that the number of voters who can be racially guilt tripped is on the downslide.

“Common sense measures?”
Like a bayonete lug as evidence what it is attached to is an “assault” rifle?
Like limititing handgun magazines in New York to 7 rounds when the only handgun with a stock 7 round magazine is a Colt 1911?
Like banning high capacity magazines in Colorado that were obtained after an arbitrary date when it is impossible to determine the exact date when the owner came into possession? Police say its unenforceable.
Like the same law as originally passed prohibited police from possessing high capacity magazines?
Evidence of non existent liberal common sense

If we make guns illegal, then nobody will get shot anymore. That's how we stopped everybody from doing drugs.Excellent.

Evidently, Martin OMalley is afraid of black people owning guns.

This isn't about guilt tripping whites. Its about winning Democrat primary voters.
This is a direct response to Hillary's recent comments. She's running so far to the Left that her opponents really have nowhere else to go.
Its going to make for a VERY interesting general election, since there is a point (as Walter Mondale found out in 1984) where you go too far Left in the primaries and are unable to get back to the center. The demographics have changed considerably since then (Romney got the same % of the white vote as Reagan did in '84), but what this sort of thing could do is really stampede a LOT of centrist non-voters to the polls.
