RE: Whats a NICS?
From the article itself (excerpt ):
One proxy for demand is the volume of background checks that get submitted to the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System, or NICS. As you can see in the chart above, NICS is going up.

Ummm, actually it was a serious question. It’s not defined on the chart, nor in the excerpt.

“If there’s a risk that you won’t be able to buy guns in the near future, then buy your guns now.”
And that’s exactly what I did.
Went into a popular local gun store here when all that was going on just to buy a 12 gauge. The line was 5 deep an 8 across wanting to look at/purchase AR type weapons. I like to never got outta there. At that time they were around $1500 or more.

I bought a couple when McCain was the official nominee.
Then I lost them in a boating accident, of course.

It’s not the unavailability of firearms that concerns me but the availability of ammunition; control that and firearms will be useless.

If we can smuggle 30 million illegals across the border then we can smuggle ammo.

Oh, don’t worry about ammo - the feds are storing it all for us.

Just like during Prohibition - smuggle it in from Canada.

Interesting that Colt is now in bankruptcy.
But then again if memory serves, Samuel Colt skated close to financial disaster all his life. So I guess it is just a company tradition.
