I’m familiar with the keto diet, as it helps people with epilepsy. I’ve heard that the rise in Alzheimer’s is linked to all the statin drugs, as our brains are made up mostly of cholesterol.

And strawberries are nuts...
Regards,
I’ve been working on ketosis for about 3 months. I never get the color stick to the full color abut just by being in the mid range I’ve lost 35 lbs and am combining that with beginning yoga that has given me a lot of improved balance and flexibility as I approach my 7th decade on this goofy earth.
bump for later read
I finished at the five day fast in just four hours!
Yes, but you must up the number of olives to four. Use potato vodka, since that is another vegetable. /sarcasm ... one dirty martini per day keeps the doctor away ... if he only drinks wine.
People who are dying don’t have much of an appetite.
Contrary to what people try to tell you, food is a good thing. Stay away from processed food full of sugar, and food will make you strong.
Being fragile and weak is not healthy.
They are preparing us for the upcoming food shortages in a few years. “Don’t worry, starving is good for you.”
Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper.
Education is knowing that a tomato is a fruit; wisdom is knowing not to put one in a fruit salad. :=)
I am just saying that I tried this 5 day fast thing by accident last month and I really felt good
in fact I think I will do it again starting today - i put back on at least 5 of those pounds I lost
it was nice to bend over and not have that big inner tube squeeze across my stomach
From what I have read, once you are into a ketosis state, the urine will stop testing positive. You will have to have either blood test or breath testing if you want to monitor yourself. I am ordering the breath tester as I am really A. R. . I do test my blood for sugar. I am astounded at my results since I have been on this “diet”. My blood sugar readings are nice and stable even after meals. However, if I just look at carbs, they will jump thirty points.
I am in my mid 70’s and this is the first time I have had a stable range of blood sugar since I discovered I was type 2 in my late 40s.
I am still working as a Computer Technician. I had gone through all the Statins and swore off due to the pains and side effects. The last drug they tried was Zetia. It blocks Cholesterol uptake in the gut. A couple of months after I started taking it, I began having trouble reimaging hard drives, software patches, etc. I would have to get out the written instructions to do something I have been doing “without thinking” for years. I was scared “$hitless” I was at first stages of Senility. I stopped the Zetia and gradually regained my sanity.
I expect some time after I croak, there will be ads on TV similar to the ones now for Asbestos. “ If you or a loved one died of liver failure, etc. etc.. contact Dueie Sueem and Howe to participate in the 17 Trillion settlement...”
The way to world is spiraling out of control, I’m not sure I want to extend my life here.
Tomato trees are a big problem. Ever try climbing one?

Don’t be tiresome.
The words “fruit” and “vegetable” are used differently in botany and in the culinary arts.
In the culinary arts, olives, avocados, tomatoes, zucchini, all other squashes, are vegetables because they are more apt for use in savory dishes. A bowl of mixed chopped tomatoes, sliced zucchini and black olives is *not* a fruit salad.
There is no doubt that periodic fasting is good for you.
The body goes into “clean-up” phase.
In case anyone is on Who wants to be a Millionaire game show:
*shorthand version*
When the edible part contains the seeds: Tree fruits, tomatoes, lemons, cucumbers. That is a fruit.
When the edible part is something else: carrots, onions (roots), broccoli, cauliflower (flowers), corn, wheat (seeds), spinach, lettuce (leaves). That is a vegetable.
you’re just losing water weight on these “5-10 day miracle diets”. your body stores glycogen in its muscles as a ready energy source. stored with this is water. when you ingest fewer calories than you burn per day, your body turns to these glycogen reserves first. as those are burned, the water is used. after a few days on a calorie deficit, your body will lose quite a bit of water weight... i’ve seen myself lose 7 lbs in 24 hours. that’s slightly less than a gallon of water. but it’s not real weight loss. as soon as you start eating at a calorie surplus again, you’ll restock those glycogen reserves and re-store that water.
this is why all of those miracle diets that the weight loss industry hawks are all predicated on losing 5-10-15lbs in the first two weeks. you can come up with endless permutations of diets and sell them to gullible consumers with this promise. but after two weeks, that stored water weight is gone and weight loss slows back to more realistic levels. by then, the hucksters have your money and instead of feeling like you’ve been duped, you blame yourself for failing because you saw your scale reading drop in the first two weeks, but now it has stalled. and then you go eat a box of twinkies to feel better and before you know it, you’ve gained back all of that weight (water weight) that you lost. this is yo-yo dieting and it is the foundation of the multi-billion dollar weight loss industry. they don’t actually want anyone to lose weight. they need repeat customers to afford their yearly vacations to St. Barts. ;)
weight loss is all about calories-in-and-calorie-out. burn more per day than you eat and your body makes up the deficit from your energy reserves (glycogen, fat, muscle). anything else (paleo, low-carb, atkins, etc.) is just a strategy for sticking to a calorie deficit.
