The House on Thursday took the first step toward resuscitating the White Houses trade agenda by passing legislation granting President Obama fast-track authority.
The bill now goes to the Senate, where the White House and GOP leaders are seeking to strike a deal with pro-trade Democrats.
The House vote was 218-208, with 28 Democrats voting for it.
This is the second time in a week the House has voted to approve the controversial fast-track bill. On Friday, the House voted 219-211 in favor of fast-track, which would make it easier for Obama to complete a sweeping trans-Pacific trade deal.
In last weeks vote, the House GOP paired the fast-track bill with a measure known as Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) that gives aid to workers displaced by trade. Both measures needed to be approved in separate votes for the entire package to move forward.
House Democrats have historically favored TAA, but they voted against it on Friday to kill fast-track, which is deeply opposed by unions and other liberal groups.
The White House still wants both measures to reach Obamas desk, but is now advancing a different strategy that would see the two bills move separately.

es without TPA we would have had forever to review it and it (TPP) would have needed 60 votes in the Senate to pass but thanks to TPA TPP only needs 50 votes from Senators and only gets reviewed for up to 60 days, Mitch might decide 1 day is enough. Also remember there a 2 other secrete “trade” bills besides TPP hitched to TPA and those bills are so secrete even the traitors in the GOP are not allow to see them.

BAMM RIGHT ON TARGET.
TRUMP OR STAY HOME. WAIT......Paul voted against this in the Senate right? Ok 2 outta 12 stand for America. I had high hopes for Cruz but I now have to disconnect the cruz control.
McClintock has an incredibly sharp mind and wit. I can’t believe he was fooled on this. He made a conscious decision to give us SON OF NAFTA ON STERIODS.
To bad the real reason he voted must be a secret because the reasons he and the rest give are ridiculous
Review? The American people have been reviewing this for the last couple of weeks and are 20 to 1 against it. And as everyone can see, OUR review meant nothing. And what if the President does not comply.......are they gonna impeach him......nope.
Welcome to the Mother of all Naftas.

But don’t worry you can have time to review it. Lots of time, cause time will be the most you have since .....YOU WON’T HAVE A JOB!
The new American Dream....aid to workers displaced by trade.
What kind of aid?.....that special kool aid.
“But not voting at all youre consenting to whatever direction is taken by the winner.”
I think you ‘re confusing obedience with consent. Obedience is sometimes obtained voluntarily, but more often its obtained under implied or actual threat. That’s pretty much all the politicians have left in their box of tools at this point: comply or else.
What you seem to be suggesting is that is that having one one hundred millionth of a say in who we get to obey versus having no say is a meaningful distinction. I don’t see it that way. Further, given that the two choices provided to us differ little in philosophy or practice, that very slight distinction between having little voice and no voice is of zero consequence.
BTW, I do appreciate the thoughtful discussion, so thanks for taking the time to post.
RINOs are the conservatives. The GOP® is patently not conservative.
Voting Democrat is to spit on Christ, so leaves little choice.
.....”I think you re confusing obedience with consent”.....
Not at all...nobody puts a gun to your head to vote, or not to vote as you prefer. That’s a matter of ‘freedom’ this country affords those who choose to vote.... Likewise the freedom to choose not to vote.......So of course having a say in who we vote for verses having no say at all is indeed a distinction....regardless of the candidates of choice given.....A not-vote still will remain a vote for whoever wins.
The thing about non-voters is how difficult it is to take them seriously in what they say.....as you stated that you are here on FR for the “entertainment”, and additionally the possibility of attracting others ‘to not-vote’ along with you...which is really a form of recruitment and could be said intimidation as well.
We recognize the one percent in control are counting on you not showing up and voting...... They work hard to get people NOT TO VOTE, because that means they win.... So one would question if that isn’t your purpose here on FR.
Well, my motives have been impugned since minute one of my time at FR 10 plus years and 12,000 plus posts ago. That’s just the price paid if you commit the unpardonable sin of not going along with the prevalent groupthink. But if you believe you’ve found THE smoking gun that will result in my riding the lightning, then I invite you to get with the owner of FR as soon as possible. Don’t wait!
As for your substantive argument, it reminds me of the comedy routine that George Carlin did on voting. It’s a bit vulgar, but funnier than anything I can muster. Google it if you’re interested.
This Fast track gives Obama power to make treaties that override U.S. laws. Its the destruction of the republic. It gives obama unlimited dictatorial power to destroy the U.S. Proof here :

Last week no one in Washington was saying this terrible bill would pass. Said it was dead. Then Obamagabe promised kickbacks and favors and presto it passes. Democrats have no soul. Have no moral compass. They are all pandering, worthless, spineless morons that can always be bought off.
good info
thanks
One cannot be conservative and vote for this abomination that undermines our national sovereignty and the 2/3 requirement for treaties.
They say treaties will not change the fact that Congress controls USA law. BS. Tell that to those in Congress who just voted to remove COOL labeling on meats because other countries called it preferential trade for USA. Most Americans want COOL labeling on meats and poultry.
I see our government being hijacked by global corporate whxres without a country. Anyone supporting TPA and pushing for TPP will not get my vote.
