Police and federal law enforcement agencies were in the midst an all-out manhunt Thursday morning for the gunman they say is responsible for killing 9 people in a Charleston South Carolina church Wednesday night in what police described as a hate crime.
The suspect opened fire on a bible study group at the historic black Emanuel AME Church on Calhoun street, killing eight people in an "unfathomable." Two other people were rushed to the hospital where one died.
Early Thursday morning, police released pictures from surveillance footage showing the suspect, a younger white man, approximately 21-25 years old, as well as the car he was driving, police said.

Got it...that’s a better pic, thanks! I suppose he could be a light skinned black with a wig but I don’t know...all of these pics aren’t very good. I’m still going with “white trash surfer redneck” and SC native. If his hair is real, it’s very unique looking so he will stand out in public unless he cuts it. I don’t think we have a good enough shot of the face to go by.

Looks like some hipster type, although it could very easily be a disguise.
It seems he is white, his name is Dylann Roof, and he has a facebook page. And half his friends are black.
I don’t imagine it will be too long before they catch him.
He actually does look more like Opie now in the updated pic, with the 'button' nose. But he certainly didn't look like him in the earlier pics we were commenting on, with what appeared to be a large nose.
Finally, somebody else with a keen eye. I agree that this person is not caucasian but in fact, Asian or Pacific Islander.
Looks like a black wig to me. Maybe he switched to a blond wig for the witness to see.

A false alarm that someone before me posted. I reposted alongside the surveillance pics. The guy was apparently released.
He does not seem to be as Caucasian as Rachel Dolezal, at least by outward appearance and almost certainly genetically. I'm not sure what the media and SC police mean by "white", but whatever they mean, this isn't what most people usually mean. Could he be a walk-on extra on "Vikings"? I think not.
HE has darker skin.
