You may not believe this, but Donald Trump may have started his run as president with highly dubious claim.
After bounding on stage at his headquarters, Trump Tower, the bombastic billionaire looked up at the crowd that surrounded him in awe.
Whoa, Trump said. That is some group of people. Thousands. Theres been no crowd like this.
However, we were there, and it seemed like there were no more than a few hundred supporters lined up to watch Trump speak.
Trump spokeswoman Hope Hicks told Business Insider the campaign did not have an "official tally." However, she said it would be "wildly inaccurate" to say less than 1,000 people were in attendance. She said the campaign was "expecting over 1,000." In addition to the people in the audience area, Hicks claimed there were people watching in bars and restaurants within Trump Tower as well as passers by who viewed the event on televisions set up outside.
"There were a lot of people probably that you couldn't see," Hicks said.

With some reservations I think I’d be able to agree with your take on it.
Whoever the next guy is, he’s going to have to roll back a mountain of evil in Washington, D. C. If they aren’t talking in those terms, they aren’t worth supporting.
I missed his speech and haven’t heard his immigration position. I keep waiting for someone to say they’ll enforce the law and do massive deportation.
I never thought I would say this......
But I was way impressed with his no nonsense speech today.
For sure, he won’t have to be bought......
He hit all the hot buttons with no waffling or caveats.
Well said!
Which is a perfectly legal business tactic. Unlike GM,Obama wasn't there to bail him out. He did it on his own. An 8 billion net worth isn't something to sneeze at matey.
I’m listening now. So far, I have heard our problems, am waiting for his solutions. I’ll admit I’m intrigued, especially by the reaction of several of the Freepers who are saying positive things. I try to keep an open mind. Staying tuned.
“And when he couldnt he just filed Chapter 11 and moved on...”
Are you aware that Abraham Lincoln filed for bankruptcy and “moved on?”
Thanks for the video link, I missed it this morning. Just listened to about 3/4 of it and I love everything he said. It keeps freezing up, which tells me there are an awful lot of folks watching it. If I trusted him I would be on board, but I don’t. Yet. But I’ll keep an open mind, and we’ll see. He certainly seems to be the only one who will tell it like it is on trade, jobs, immigration, etc.
Oh come on now, he’s been very successful at seizing properties via eminent domain.
Hadn't heard that. Which ones?
I am boycotting FoxNEWS until they stop giving face time to this ridiculous Trump person.
You’ll have to forgive him....
...he’s not all that good with numbers.
;—)
For what it's worth, that 8 billion dollar number is . . . bovine excrement. Not surprising coming from a self-promoting clown like Trump.
I welcome back the concept of winning. Less talk about fair and more talk about winning please
Here’s my take on TPA and TPP. Now that I understand TPA, I support it for the requirement of 60 day review of trade agreements before the vote, and that it requires Congress to be involved in the negotiations, and restricts what the President can agree to.
I don’t think Cruz has any intention of voting for TPP. I think he seized the opportunity to secure TPA for the next President. I know that TPA has in the past been followed by trade agreements being passed, but we have never had a President so distrusted, nor have we had one that was such an abysmal negotiator. The TPP would likely not come up for vote according to the timetable I’ve looked at before late 2016. There are going to be a lot of folks from the Senate and House up for re election. I don’t think they will vote for TPP and risk infuriating the voters. It will only take a handful of Republicans to defeat TPP and we have that.
Now for Donald Trump I just finished listening to his speech. I paid particular attention to everything he said he would do as President:
Repeal Obamacare
Build a fence and secure the border
Repeal Common Core
Strike down Obama’s Executive Order on Immigration
Strengthen the military and care for veterans
Defeat ISIS
Restore the American Dream by bringing back jobs and manufacturing.
If you add Abolish the IRS, he sounds just like Cruz. I trust Cruz. The Donald??? Meh.
I’ve believed for years that Trump is either a plant by the Democrats or the GOPe.
“Thats how he figures his net worth, too. Counts how many dollars he has and then adds a zero or two.”
Yeah, well he’s going to have to release his financs, won’t he. And it appear to be about 8 billion dollars worth. You got 8 billion dollars?
He doesn’t worry about being politically correct when it comes to immigration and I like that. He is also correct about us losing good jobs. We need to level the playing field in global trade and our tax structure.
The Donald will now have standing to challenge several others on their natural born citizen status. Could this be why he has declared?
